Re: myTV v1.0.08038c released
Have you added the local user (or whatever user you've set the service to use) as an administrator of the SQL database using the SQL Surface Configurator?
I think that's a step you need to do when you use the MyMovies installed SQL instance as it uses a different authentication method.

Re: myTV v1.0.08038c released
Arne or Dgaust... question for both of you. If you remember correctly my problem with myTV was that watched episodes were causing a problem for me. Well, I ran into an error when adding Family Guy... I could barely see it as it flashed across the screen but it basically stated that I had a transport error when I tried to do a metadata refresh. What is a transport error to the server and how do I correct this? Do you think this might have been my problem all the while? It came up with the nullable object error again!

Re: myTV v1.0.08038c released
I definitely think that's something Arne will have to answer.
My recollection is that the 'Refresh meta-data' doesn't actually do anything at the moment, I've tried it recently and it didn't update anything.

Arg, I forgot about that little trick. I'll make sure when I get home tonight. Normally I go to all my bookmarked "Tricks" threads on the forums, but with them down...thanks for taking the time to respond to my questions guys!

Re: myTV v1.0.08038c released
Yes, My Movies are still causing a bit of a headache - most of it is fixed, but at times I've noticed user permissions just do not stick to it. If nothing else, try the sqlcmd commands from a command prompt running as your designated myTVservice user - once this connects you should be good to go.
Irene: You know, I've looked and looked at this issue, and I still don't have a complete fix for it. Tweaked the code back and forth after I found a way to [sometimes] reproduce it, and it seems to happen less often now but I'm still completely unable to catch the actual exception (it's not a myTV error as such - it's actually thrown by media center itself it seems). I've managed to work out what causes it (ie. what data) and I can remove it [the error] completely by no longer auto-scrolling to the 'default' episode - which in essence is what you do when you mark all episodes watched/unwatched.

Re: myTV v1.0.08038c released
Okay... I've got some more information. I went into SQL Surface Area Management and changed my connection to TCP/pipes instead of local connection and since then it is adding episodes like crazy. I don't work off of a server, but maybe this is the key. Since I can't get into the app at all, this is my last ditch effort. I haven't tried to access it yet as I'm allowing it to run its course but I'll keep you updated.

Re: myTV v1.0.08038c released
spplutchok:What is my fucking problem? Are you serious? The first thing I saw when I checked this thread today in the very first post (2007-08-12) is the following edit contributed on 7/2/2008: ---edit 7/2 2008--- New Trial versions available for download here. There hasn't been a public announcement made yet, but the files are there. Version 1.0.08038c is the current build.
Will post full details with new screenshots and an overview of the application in a day or so. ---end edit--
Prior to that I don't see you on this thread after a 2008-03-10 post. In this day and age do you really expect me to believe that you could not get to some computer, somewhere, anywhere, and check this thread or contact your user base in some way? Please... But let me spell out MY fucking problem for you: I have thousands of dollars invested in a home theater system (HTPC, TV, Stereo, etc.) which I cannot get to operate reliably enough to put into service for my wife and family due to constant errors related to YOUR SOFTWARE. They don't understand why they can't select myTV without getting a "Stupid myTVService error!" I'm sick of contending with these errors and defending your software when I can't reach you. I'm going to bat for you and You Can't Understand My FUCKING Problem?Aside from the above edit contribution, You haven't been on YOUR thread since 2008-03-10, almost 4 (Four) months. Since I can't get support from you or access to your website & forums for a crucial PAID component of my system, and notice many others on this thread feeling as frustrated I am, perhaps you can imagine that I am understandably PISSED.I very much appreciate the assistance of the many betatesters on this thread who have offered invaluable advice regarding myTV setup/error issues. Without them and others on this thread there would have been no news and no hope of resolving some of my problems. In fact without you resurfacing here I would still think you skipped town. However, my problems with myTV are not theirs to resolve. I paid you and expect you to stand behind your product. Don't get pissy with me when I come to a conclusion that you abandoned us. My offer still stands: If you need financial or technical assistance, I know that your user base won't let you down. Your software is worth way more than what I paid. I appreciate all your hard work and really want to see your product succeed. Setup a PayPal account so that your user base can contribute to your recovery. I'm sure that my $20.00 along with the assistance of others will go a long way to shore you up until you get back on your feet. Own up to your mistake - your user base deserved assurance when you went offline. Your management of this crisis sucked!!!
Sorry I've been away all weekend. But I wanted to comment on this post. You'll notice he does have an update o 7/2/2008, but Arne is not from the US (I believe) and does not use the format mm/dd/yyyy he uses dd/mm/yyyy so that update was from February 7th, 2008 NOT July 2, 2008! Please as I said before, calm down a bit! Edit: This is what I get for not reading the full thread before respondinng..hehe. I'm glad we are now on the same page and we can move forward :) sorry for my premature and ill informed response :D

I FIXED IT! I really did! I know what was causing this all along. I read back on this thread where someone mentioned having blue ray mixed in for some tv series. Well, my problem started when I added in the Tudors television series and I happened to burn one episode as mkv to see if the quality was that much better! That's what it was... it can't take having mixed modes of video in the same series... or, it is having a hard time with mkv files (but I think it's the first as I have an entire series of mkv and it plays it just fine!) Since I changed that... it works! The problem went away if I added the Tudors last as then the other episodes were added just fine! I can't flippin' believe this but it works without even one beep... and that hasn't happened since the stable build! Pinch me... it's working!

Re: myTV v1.0.08038c released
Videoformats should have nothing to do with anything, so I think the fact it's now working is just a coincidence.
In terms of your original error (as reported over at the myTV site), that problem is caused by (as we've both known for a long time) the fact some episodes are watched/unwatched - the actual reason for the crash is the ScrollTo function invoked when rendering the Episodes page though - and I'm still unable to reproduce consistently (sometimes it works, other times it doesn't - some series more often than others etc), but it nothing else I'll simply remove the Scroll in the next build (unless I actually get a fix for it - few things I have to try still, but cannot continue development until I receive some new hardware).
If you meant the Family Guy problem was solved - I think that may just have been bad luck, in any case the code for service/UI communication has been tidied up rather a lot lately and the UI should live on without the service.

Re: myTV v1.0.08038c released
I hate it when you're right. :) Just when I thought I was back on track again... it's giving me the error again. Arne... can you pm me the stable build when you get a chance? I know that you've been through a lot and I'm sure you are investing a lot of time to recuperate, so whenever this is possible, I would appreciate it. I only have the last beta build. Thanks in advance!

Re: myTV v1.0.08038c released
Will do once I get the server running again. Was just up in the loft to try and jerryrig a connection with an old router I had laying around only to find the backup server was now complaining about "ntoskrnl.exe missing or corrupt" (so seems it's taken some damage after all, even though it was running fine a few days ago) - so I expanded the file from my install media only to find that it [media] didn't include the service pack, which means the box still won't boot.
Downloading SP from MS now, so I'll try and get it to you tomorrow (unless my frankenbuild of a router/switch actually works, in which case you can download it yourself).

This didn't work :( I can get it to start the mytv application if I remove the watched folders from settings.xml. However, as soon as I add a watched folder everything just starts breaking...from invalid application errors to "stopped responding" errors.

Re: myTV v1.0.08038c released
What kind of folders are you watching? Local or network shares?
You need to make sure that the user the service is running as has full read access to these folders. If I remember correctly, there was even a bug in 08116 which would cause all sorts of problems if this user did not have write access to them also (has been fixed).

Re: myTV v1.0.08038c released
I'm assuming that you've got the online functions switch on.....
When you entered the details for thetvdb website, did you add the 16 character account identifier (available from the accounts page at thetvdb) or did you use your username?
Make sure you are using the account identifier.
