    Re: myTV v1.0.08038c released

I'm running the commercial release right now as the website is down. I'm in the beta group though, so I will test if the latest beta works better when the website is up again.

    Thanks for all help!

yes i have 12 seasons of south park. hmmm.....im trying to remember if this was fixed before the 1.0 commercial release, and i believe it was. perhaps bledsoe or dgaust could verify this?

No I don't think it was... it'll definitely deal with more than 10 seasons it just seems to be the reg-ex matching going wrong.

Firstly, how are the episodes named? If they're named something like South Park.101.avi (i.e. Season 10 Episode 1) that's why it's going wrong.

    Make sure they're named S10E01.

Secondly, there have been reports of this on occasion (haven't seen it myself) and the regex matching is much better in the later beta versions.

Tried several times. But same result. You are sure that myTV can handle over 9 seasons?

Yeah I can also verify this as I to have 12 seasons of south park.

    Re: myTV v1.0.08038c released

Has there been any updates or news on when the site might be up?  I have paid for the program but have not been able to download it yet.  I'm going to be going out of town the end of next week and I don't want to have to worry about my trial version running out on my wife and kids while I'm gone.  Anyone know how long the trial version lasts?  Should I be worried about the site making it back up?

Hopefully ahelseth gives an update on the problem as not everbody who bought the program, posts on his own forum or are part of the beta, so they dont know what the hell is happening or what ahelseth is like.

There is no time limit on the trial version as fas as I'm aware. I'm sure Arne is working feverishly in the background to get the site back up and running - I sure hope so, I'm missing my daily myTV fix.

As far as I know no-one (whether commercial or beta user) can access the site, therefore being either doesn't give any preferrential access or information as the forums are down. Though I agree it would be nice if Arne gave a quick update on what is happening.

    Re: myTV v1.0.08038c released

This is not looking good at all.  I've had this happen before where I was using some shareware and all of the sudden the author drops off the face of the earth.  Extremely frustrating, but a risk we all take when we purchase shareware from an independent author.  As far as I can tell, no one's heard from him for a few weeks, and the site's been down for at least that long.  I've been hoping for the best, but now I'm expecting the worst...

    Re: myTV v1.0.08038c released

[I purchased the software.]  I've been a bit put off by the the week after week message that a new public release would be coming soon [after months no new release].  If this project is still around, this outage will likely delay any release a week or more [again]. I donated more than a fair amount of money to Transcode 360 before it fell off the face of the earth.  So, I know what you are saying.  It is a total crap-shoot with these one man projects!

    Re: myTV v1.0.08038c released

Well as a betatester of this program, I am still quite certain that Arne has not dropped off the face of the earth. Many of us knew that he was going to have to shut the site down again to fix problems with his SQL server. I am also not surprised that he has not popped in here to say anything, being as this was not a focal point for the program. I'm sure it is just taking longer than he expected to fix everything. We all just need to be patient. :)

...and then there were the two licenses I purchased of Web Guide just weeks before Microsoft bought it and started giving it out for free.  When I purcahse or donate to one of these projects it is to pay for the work done and hopefully pay for some work to be done [product continue to evolve].

    Re: myTV v1.0.08038c released

Guys, no need to worry. I'm still here, and the site should be back up within a week (roughly).

On Sunday night (June 22nd) we were struck by lightning which, although protected using various UPSes and surge protectors, still took out the main internet router, the internal router providing access from my local network, two 1Gb switches, one of the servers and HTPCs (not to mention other completely unrelated devices). After much back and forth I finally managed to get back online temporarily (to update you all on what's going on) a few days ago, unfortunately that lasted for about five minutes (just long enough for me to retreive my TGB password) before dying again.

I've now got a working uplink, but without an internal router and switches there is no access to anything but my laptop. I've placed an order for a replacement D-Link DGS-1216T and trying to source a Linksys WRT54GS (v3 or earlier) as we speak (well, type). The D-Link switch should be here within the week and once received all I need is the Linksys (which is proving hard to find - but if all else fails I'll pick up a temporary router for the time being). Still waiting for the insurance adjustor to give his word, but last I heard the coverage they provide for lightning strikes are based on the fact that all devices are protected by surge protectors. Now, some of my hardware was (such as the server that died and the switch), problem is the strike came in to the building via the phoneline, where it then went through my (newly wired I might add) CAT-6 cabling up to the server room and from there throughout most of the house. Hopefully it's still covered, but development is halfway halted due to the fact I no longer have a "testrig" for real life testing.

So don't worry, the website is coming back up, and the project is very much still alive. If nothing else, this has caused me to rewrite more of the service which means it now works 100% without an internet connection available (which some of you complained about in the last beta).

Once I know more I'll post another update here, and in the meantime don't hesitate to contact me using my alternative emails or through PMs here on this site. Be aware though, replies can take a while :)

    ---edit---
For those being "put off" by the delays in the new public beta builds - as a registered commercial user beta builds were (are) available simply by asking for access. So whilst I can understand your concerns regarding the delays - as a fully paid customer you could always run the daily builds.

    Re: myTV v1.0.08038c released

It seems that Arne is NOT interested in supporting his users.  i am tired of being ignored and putting up with the constant erroring of his buggy plug-in.  I wish I hadn't ponied up and paid for his commercial version.  As far as I am concerned, I have been suckered.

Arne, you contributed this thread two days ago (7-2-2008) but ignored requests for info on your site and it's problems.  Your unwillingness to inform your user base when they can expect continued support is conduct unbecoming of a IT professional.  You have an obligation to support users who have paid for your software.

myTV is a good product.  I would very much like to use it.  I need support to work out a recurring error message when using it.  I shouldn't have to seek support for your product on a third-party website.

I have been patient and have had enough.  I can only conclude that myTV has been abandoned by it's author and is now a dead project.

What exactly is your fucking problem? I posted an explanation as to why the site is down less than an hour ago in this very thread. I've been working my ass off trying to get things accessible again, but replacing melted and burnt out CAT-6 cabling takes time, replacing the actual hardware responsible for running the services you are trying to access takes money (and quite a lot of it) which basically means the project is now running at a loss (at least until insurance is coming through - if it does). Rest assured that the server will be back up as soon as I have managed to replace all the cabling and taken delivery of new hardware.

    ---edit---
As for contributing to this thread on July 2nd - I did no such thing as I had NO INTERNET CONNECTION, I was logged into the site on the 30th, but between requesting a password refresh for TGB and being able to post a update my connection died again. I've been online again now for less than 3 hours, and the first thing I did was check this site (as well as emails) and started getting word out.

    ---edit2---
As soon as I manage to get a complete copy of email addresses off of my SQL server for people registered at the myTV website I'll get an email out to everyone. Getting the DB backup is not a problem, but not having access to the net (even the LAN) from the server is. Hopefully there will be an email going out at some point tomorrow.

    Hey Arne,

Thanks for the heads up. If there is anything you need let me know. I can see about tracking down the linksys you need and getting it for you if that at all helps out ;)

You have my email and such from the mytv website, if not pm me here and I'll give it to you.
