Re: MC Menu Mender - Error

All, just in case anyone else has the same issue as I did -- my extenders all needed to be reinstalled/configured after a power outage. I uninstalled and reinstalled each and the item I could not get rid of was gone! All was good.

    Cheers, Tony.

Re: MC Menu Mender - Error

Sorry for the late replies, i've been away for a week without regular internet access.

    alonzotiga:
just tried this app out, absolutly love it...works perfect...what else if anything are you planning on adding??

I'm not sure - what do you want to see?

    Musictype:
This may not have a solution, but just in case...: When in WinDVD, when I press MENU, it kicks me back to VMC, then it gets into a vicious circle between VMC and WinDVD, always snapping back to VMC. The only way to get out is to manage to click BACK within the split second it shows WinDVD.

Ok - so you have WinDVD open, then you go back to MC and launch the WinDVD item again, which immediately switches back to MC again? My guess as to what is happening here is that when you launch WinDVD when there is already a copy open, the new process will bring the already running copy to the foreground and then end. Menu Mender sees the process end and faithfully brings MC back to the foreground. If this is the case, i'm not sure that there is much that can be done about it. You could try adding the menu button to the list of things that closes WinDVD in Menu Mender.

    twiseva:
The issue is that is moves fine but on the DMA2100 extenders I have, it leaves it in the TV+Movies slot also. On my VMC PC, it has been moved correctly and does NOT leave this behind.

Ahh, I know why this is happening - when you move/delete a registry based item from the menu, Menu Mender deletes it from the local machine and current user keys - but not from other user keys. Extenders are effectively different users, so references to the item aren't deleted for them. I'll try to fix this for the next version.

    leonydus:
Heres my issue.... I cant seem to get HDDVD's to auto launch PowerDVD8 in VMC.

Has anyone actually had any success with this? I wasn't able to test it properly (other than confirming that the registry keys are successfully created ) as I don't have an HDDVD or Bluray drive. If there is a problem i'll have to set up some sort of virtual system to test with.

Re: MC Menu Mender - Error

hmmm im not sure, would it possible to change the icons in our custom strips??

EDIT: I just figured out how to change the icons on plugins, so no need for that. im not sure what else you could add, it seems so good already...maybe the option to save the registry to a certain location, so we dont have to manually do it Smile [:)]

Re: MC Menu Mender - Error

You mean back up the registry the same way ehres.dll is backed up? That's a little tricky, as the registry can change after you've backed it up (a new plugin is installed, for example) - and then when you restore the backup, the changes that occurred since the backup are wiped out, and your new plugin doesn't work any more. Still, I might be able to figure something out.

hmm your right, i didnt think about that. i read over at the australian forum you thought of going in the mediacenterfx route, are you still thinking of doing this??

Re: MC Menu Mender - Error

Yeh, i'm thinking about it. A lot of the code for Menu Mender could be reused for swapping out images, sounds etc for themes - and replacing images should be a lot easier than dealing with the menus Wink [;)] I never wanted to do it before as MediaCenterFX did such a good job - but now that it seems to have disappeared, maybe I should.

    twiseva:

Hey all, this is a great tool and has cleaned up my VMC a bunch. I have one issue I can not seem to resolve -- basically on my Linksys 2100, I can not get rid of the custom icon in the TV row.

I have OML in this position and moved it to the custom strip created by myTV. I also have a Weather custom strip.

For some reason, the extender leaves the OML icon in the TV slot, even though it has been moved. It also has it in the myTV custom slot.

When I run VMC it is NOT in this location.

    Any ideas?

    Cheers, Tony.

I have a similar issue, I created a new custom strip and added 3 icons on to it, TV Tonic, Web Media and Yougle. I then discovered that the TV Tonic icon was not working and I was getting a Missing Interface error. I then removed the TV Tonic icon from my custom strip. However on the XBOX 360 Extender the TV Tonic icon is still present on the custom strip.

How can I remove it now?

    Thanks

Re: MC Menu Mender - Error

Version 0.4.3 of MC Menu Mender is available from here:
The changes for this version are:
    • Fixed problem where 3rd party apps would be left on the menus of extenders after deleting them from the menu on the main PC. If you already have this problem, move the item you need to remove back to where it is showing on the extender, save, then delete it again and save.
    • New entry points created by Menu Mender now appear in under "program library" in Media Center. Games created with Menu Mender will also appear under the "games" section under "program library" in Media Center.

Re: MC Menu Mender - Error

    Advent,
First off, wonderful program! First time using it and loving it, very easy to use and understand and can arrange the tiles the way i want.

I just have a couple of questions:

    1.  When you create a custom tile, you can't drag any of the existing tiles (eg DVD Library) to that custom tile?

    2. How do you choose which tile is selected first when you first move to a row? For example i moved Total Media Theaters blu-ray player tile into a preexisting Row (and disabled the newly created entry point by TMT), but now even tho it's position is the 2nd tile in the row, it is selected by default.  I want the first tile selected.

But overall a very very useful program, i don't use the sports section so i just renamed it to "Movies" and put the Play Movie, DVD Libary, and TMT icons there :D

    Thanks a lot

No, you can't - unless you have installed TV Pack 2008 (Fiji). This is a limitation in the way that the original release of Media Center works - no getting around it.

Just click on the tile you want to be selected by default in Menu Mender. It will get a slight glow, which indicates that it is the current default for that strip. This also applies to the strips - you can set the default strip by clicking on its title, and it will also get a glow.

Re: MC Menu Mender - Error

    This is quite annoying.

I installed the latest version 0.4.3 specifically to move TVTonic elsewhere to allow MyMovies back on the TV strip.  I did that.... moving TVTonic to the custom strip OAB Newsreader uses.  Simple.  Easy.  Drag TVTonic Down and MyMovies reappears where it should.  GREAT!

Except......... Vista Media Center WILL NOT OPEN NOW!  I push the Green Button and "Windows Media Center has stopped working" appears.

Arghhhhh....... any clue what's gone wrong here?
