    Fantastic work everyone!

I have a question... I have been using Sam Saffron's Video Browser and Salami's Movie Organiser for metadata retrieval. What I have is directories with folder.jpg, mymovies.xml and the movie.

Which of the import options should I use?

    Thanks,
    Eddy

Short Answer: Export 1 xml file from mymovies and use the mymovies importer plugin on it :)

Long Answer: Interesting, I knew this would come up at some point.  So, currently we don't have an easy option for this setup, you can use mymovies to export 1 large xml file (which we can load via our mymovies importer plugin).  Shortly we will allow the mymovies importer to "recurse" through directories, at that time it would be able to handle your current layout.

Updating releases should be coming out in a much quicker cycle now so hopefully we'll get to this soon

    Brilliant. Thanks for the tip.

I'm just downloading MyMovies now. I'd originally used it, but gave up as it was too sluggish and overblown for my needs and WAF.

So, if I do the MyMovies 1 file export/import trick, how would you recommend I maintain the ongoing addition of content?

I should have put my setup forward during the design process, not turned up with it 2 hours after the first public release, eh? :-)

    Thanks again,
    Eddy

Also, is there any way of deleting content you have imported?

    Cheers,

Well using our db editor application you will find has been installed in your start menu naturally :)

Not from within the UI, the db editor can delete entries from the OML database but we don't touch the physical files

    Great. Thanks very much, Translucent.

I didn't think you guys would touch the actual files. My, people would get a little cross if you started deleting big swathes of their content...

    Cheers,

Ok, finally got www.openmedialibrary.org running as it should, check it out!

Don't be shy to ask for directions on how to use our software. There isn't any documentation at the moment, so ask and you will receive an answer for sure.

Best place to give feedback is still at http://forums.openmedialibrary.org

Thanks all for making this a great release (even though I miss the champagne!)

Hmmm... I seem to have found one issue with your solution, Translucent. When you are starting with a blank My Movies database, it doesn't seem to have a facility for importing it's own mymovie.xml files to populate itself. Very strange.

I'll investigate further, but it's getting late over here.

ok guys just fire up ver 0.1 and got a bug for you to take a look at, when importing using the "scan folders for dvds and videos" opton its picking up my video files (shown in total files found) but its not allowing me to use the "add all" option, it just ignore the command and instead doesnt add any of the movies, if i say add to each movie (and 3 finger aching minutes later) ive added them then its fine, just looks like the add all option isnt working for some reason, i hope this helps!.

    paul.

p.s im also a "video browser" user so would love to see some way of picking up the mymovies.xml files i have.

That's really going to suck for us NAS users...

It works, as I'm doing it now. Only, I first mapped the NAS to a drive letter on my VMC and then let OML scan that drive...

Re: Open Media Library - souce posted

If you use the db editor to add movies it lets you use a unc path no probs. i.e \\servername\movie\video_ts or whatever you like. No need to map a drive letter.
