Open Media Library - souce posted

Ok, I'm not the best programmer in the world at C# and mcml, however I believe I posted my code on Google Code.  Its available for everyone to try and use.  I will have to run out for a bit, but I will check back later.  Again, this was my first MCE project.  hopefully someone can use it and add whatever they need. My related post is here: http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/thread/256165.aspx

Also, I may need some help from someone who is familar with Google Code and SVN.  I did not have any luck posting with TortoiseCVN but did with TortoiseSVN

Way cool, now I only need my computer back from Dell :-)

dbldown768 would you be interested in joining/creating an open source project around this base code?

Great effort! I'll take a look at it later today.

Concerning SVN, you could try ankhsvn.

Yep.  I'd like to let people work on the code, check it all in, and get something going that possibly everyone can contribute too.

Hey sorry but I'm not seeing where I can download the complete msi to install and test this. How would I go about doing this?
    When in doubt, reboot.

This maybe a good starting project to try and have a go at, thanks for allowing us to contribute.

    Always willing to help.

I only have a quick min, however i did try and create an msi package for other users.  Once the package is installed, you will need to create a new folder in the C:\Users\Public\ directory, so the final path should look like this:

        C:\Users\Public\Open Media Library\

Then using Movie Collectorz, export your xml to that directory, calling the file "movies.xml".  I will get back with better directions later - sorry, its a sat night.

So the big issue I see here is that Movie Collectors, when choosing the local file, has no option for *.iso, although you can click "All Files" and then select the ISO.

Will this still allow us to mount iso's and play them back for the sake of HD-DVD/BluRay discs, once that functionality is written into Open Media Library?

I would almost rather see this app take the course using the DVD Library manager that's been shown in this forum.  It would, in the end give us a much faster way of importing hundreds of DVD's, and be cost free.  Although I may be missing a mass import feature on Movie Collectorz and would love to see feedback on this.

    Thanks,

    -D

Ok, as I hear you dbldown768, you are not interested in starting a public development project around this? I for one would like to start a whole open source project around this base code. So if you have got some skills in C#, MCML, artwork, documentation then PM me your information and I'll lead the project. It'll be an open source media library project, serving movies (any container eg. avi, dvd, BR etc) and tv.

    KingManon/Dbldown,

I'm thinking of also open sourcing video browser, perhaps we can join forces on this ... Licensing wise I'm thinking of using GPL.

    Cheers

Both you guys are kicking things into a higher gear with these plugins, going open source and joining forces is a good thing.
How much of a kick ass movie browser is this gonna be.
Watching the development of this really closely, keep it comin.

    Always willing to help.

That would be great!.  I took a look at your work and it looks great.  I have received a couple of PMs about getting started, sorry, I haven't had a chance to respond.  Between work, my master's program, and an upcoming wedding, I have been very busy as of late.  I would like to be a part of the team as much as possible, however, it may be quicker to begin work if someone else has a chance to setup a location.  I have no problems using the Google Code page that is already setup, I just need to get some information from everyone (privately), so I can add you to the administationn list.  I am open to suggestions, as I have never started an open source project before.

Just so everyone knows, my background is in 6 years of programming experience in the financial industry - mainly in Java, C, and C++.
