    Re: New Video Browser Plugin

I am very sorry to go offtopic here for a sec, but is there somthing like this for MCE2005???? somthing that uses the RUBY scraper and has good TV/Season organizing... Mymovies is good for movies but NOGOOD for TV, and the "my videos" is tooo simplistic

    Hey sambo99,

Hows this app coming along re updates/features/etc?
I'm currently using it and it is fantastic, but there's a few extra feature's that would be awesome (have posted them in your forums).

Any word on a v1 final release?

    Re: New Video Browser Plugin

I am wondering if it is possible to just get the ruby script program, and will it run on XP?  My main HTPC is vista, but I administer most of my databases through XP and loading the metadata through XP would be great.

    Re: New Video Browser Plugin

You should be able to use the script on XP with no problems. Of course you do need the Ruby engine installed on your XP machine but otherwise it should work.

Thanks, but how do I just get the ruby engine?  It isn't available as a seperate download on Sam's sight and I did a google search for it, but couldn't find anything

    Re: New Video Browser Plugin

Hopefully this is easily solved, but it has to do with thumbnail images for TV episodes.

I'm using the ruby script successfully and it works great.  However, I've run into one or two season of specific TV series that do not have an episode image available online.  I've tried to edit the individual episode XML files to get one to show, but it never works (I generated my own thumbnail, by the way).  From what I can tell, it is the

    <filename>episodes/xxxxx.jpg</filename>

that is responsible for showing this image.  I placed the thumbnail I created in the metadata directory and have tried various naming schemes to get it to show with no luck.

    Any ideas?

    Ok

I found the website that has the files:

    http://github.com/sambo99/tvdb-scraper/tree/master

However, I can't get it installed on my XP machine.  I extracted the files, and I can navigate to the folder in the command line, but when I try to execute the script, it tells me it is not recognized as a command.

Is there anything else I should have done besides extract the zip and move the files to the correct directory?

    Re: New Video Browser Plugin

I am a little puzzled by what video types are natively supported in a DMA2100 extender.

I was trying to play some .AVI files (reported by GSpot as DivX Style "packed bitstream" AVI, AVI v.1.0) which play just fine on the main PC.

I get a codec error on the extender.

This is what I have entered as Extender Native Types in the Configuration file of Video Browser:

    ----------------------------------------------------------------
    .DVR-MS,.WMV,.AVI,.MPEG4,.XVID,.MOV,.DIVX
    ----------------------------------------------------------------

Any ideas what I am doing wrong, and if I've screwed up my natively supported types entries?

Also, does the DMA2100 support RMVB files?

    ---------------

BTW, a .m2ts file of my home movies, encoded at 720p, plays just fine.

Oh, well, found the answer here: http://windowsmediacenter.blogspot.com/search?updated-max=2008-04-16T07%3A52%3A00-07%3A00&max-results=10 (also available on Chris Lanier's blog.)

"...Because the DMA 2100 and 2200 have issues playing AVI files if the fourcc code in the file is set to DIVX or DX50.
Changing the fourcc code to XVID instead using the Fourcc Changer utility then allows the files to play fine...."

Mine shows up as DIVX and DX50. So, I am in search of a batch FourCC changer.

    Re: New Video Browser Plugin

Checkout MPEG4Modifier, it can change the CCs and also unpack the bitstream which makes some files play back smoother on some devices.

MPEG4ModifierMod is a modded version floating around that could batch process an entire folder, but maybe the original author has incorporated that feature by now, I haven't checked for a while.

    Re: New Video Browser Plugin

    Thanks, dannyboy.

I found it and tried it. Unfortunately, neither it, nor fourcc made those particular AVIs playable through the extender.

Anyone with any other suggestions on how to make them play (short of recoding?)

    Re: New Video Browser Plugin

So I just started using this today and I LOVE IT!! Excellent job!

I have read this entire thread 2 or 3 times at this point trying to figure out how everything works.  It took a little while but I got it all figured out.  ;-)

The one thing I didn't see that would be convenient for me, would be a way to launch directly into the plug-in.  I can already see I am going to use this more than other part of mce.  Anyone found a way to do this yet?  I started googling it but haven't found anything so far...
