I just installed the Media Center TV Pack and it works ok. Since I am on Comcast it didn't show any qam channels because they don't include the channel id. I was able to add that through the normal laborous process. Now I just tried to view the AMC channel and got the "Copying Prohibited. The broadcaster prohibits this content from being copied etc..." message. I wasn't trying to record anything just view the channel. Plain old SD TV. I wonder what all that is about.

I have the same problem, hope this is fixed soon :(

Re: Windows Media Center TV Pack

I had a couple of other minor problems that made me feel uneasy about the whole thing. Although I like the new features I don't like the new problems and I don't know what else is lerking under the sheets. I just restored my system (acronis) to the point just before where I installed the TV pack and I am going to leave it there for a while. If the NDR for the beta testers expires 9/10 or something like that, I will wait until I hear what those guys have to say. Once I know the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, I will make a decision. Is there a going to be an updated TV pack without the problems? Is MSFT going to release a corrected version to the great unwashed (not OEM)? Will a series of updates bring us to the TV pack level? Will John leave Marsha? Tune in tomorrow!

    Go Griz!!!

    Cowboy -

Remember just becuase an NDA is lifted doesn't mean people can talk about what happened on the beta. They CAN talk about the product and will be able to help people, just not about anything beta related.

Had the same problem. Ran the Digital Cable Activation (methinks, I'm at work now) again then rebooted. Cleared it right up.

Anyone notice that Media center know has a dvd cover cache? Meaning you don't have to keep downloading covers over and over again! This new TV pack keeps revealing new suprises!

Re: Windows Media Center TV Pack

I'm finally running into a problem on TV Pack...

I've noticed that when I wake my HTPC, the time until it's responsive to remote control commands has been excessively long.  Like, up to two minutes.

    I'd say there's a fair chance it's because I didn't install TV Pack onto a fresh Vista installation... (?)

On a related note, Velocity Micro has stated that, like S1Digital, they'll send Vista installation DVDs with TV Pack included to those who've lost their original Vista disc.

Re: Windows Media Center TV Pack

Anyone else in Los Angeles on DirecTV having trouble with the guide? It seems like the guide is in the wrong timezone, certain "live" shows are correct, but the rest are a couple hours off.

For example, the Olympics listings are correct.  But regularly scheduled shows are totally off.....

    Blank frames with digital TV

I have noticed that occasionally while watching digital TV the video will show blank frames for a second but the audio will continue without any interruption.  Before the TV pack this never occurred.  Anyone else notice this?

Re: Blank frames with digital TV

i've encountered something like this...for me basically a frame will lock and loop over and over and the audio will still be going...won't fix itself until I hit stop and go back to live TV...this started happening to me with the TV Pack, do you happen to have an ATI card?

Re: Blank frames with digital TV

Instead, the old codec would lock up video and audio and give the no signal blue screen until you hit stop and live tv.  It would still be recording to disk too because you could see the disk light merrily blinking away.

Frozen frame, lock up, feh... the end result is the same.
