    Re: Proof-of-concept for a tv library app for watching series in order

    JackLuminous:

    Notyouraccount, lemme know if this one works. Do what you did before when you killed the metadata folders for that one series.

    The "v1.5fixed" is, indeed, fixed. Everything I reported in post 277702 is resolved.

    Also, the play random is working great! And thanks for not having it affect the "Watch Series" list, although I don't use that at the moment I could see where the random episode affecting that would annoy people.

    On a side note -- Is there an option to display the banners for TV episodes on screen which users  <foldername>.folder.xml file? I thought I remember somewhere seeing it as an option, but I can't find it in the thread and/or I may be confusing it with another program. I changed the <ImageType> tag to "Banner", and while it displayed in the proper aspect ratio it didn't actually use the banners from theTVDB as the image.

    P.S. -- Don't know if you worked on it for 1.5, but the issue I reported before when you add a new season to an already existing Series, it doesn't pickup the new season folder image and episode thumbnails.

    Re: Proof-of-concept for a tv library app for watching series in order

    What banners are you trying to display and when? A banner when viewing the season folder or for the Browse Episodes list?

    I'm aware of it not picking up new season folders but it should pick up episode metadata when you browse into the folder. However, the series for those episodes cannot be determined you won't have any metadata. Please post the contents of the *.series.xml file from the root series folder containing these season\episodes

    Re: Proof-of-concept for a tv library app for watching series in order

    Wondering if the wide banners (758px wide by 140px tall) can be displayed on the first screen that a TV series is listed. That is, the screen before the options "Browse Episodes", "Watch Series", and "Play Random" are available. Basically, instead of getting a dvd-cover style view of a list of series, I was wondering if it can display the wide banner view.

    It does pickup the episode metadata, which is great. THe workaround of deleteing the .metadata folders for a series when adding a new season is easy enough -- I just remember some posts back you indicated you were aware of the problem and would be working on it =).

    Re: Proof-of-concept for a tv library app for watching series in order

    Hi,

    Firstly & Foremost, thanks for this great plugin.

    Secondly, I have been using TVLibrary and everything worked fine, but I wanted to update the plugin so I downloaded the video library 1.5 fixed version and now I have some problems.

    My english is very bad so even I have read the whole thread, I don´t know if I have left something behind, so I have some questions:

    1. Is the button "Find Movie Info" working? At least in my case it does nothing, so I have to look for the ID manually in movie-xml.com

    2. ¿Spannedfolders doesnt work anymore? At least in my case they are not working, and with tvlibrary they worked fine.

    Anyway, this is my Supernatural.series.xml ; it worked with TvLibrary, it doesn´t work with videoLibrary.

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <Metadata>
      <Title>Supernatural</Title>
      <NeedsMetadata>false</NeedsMetadata>
      <NeedsUserSelection>false</NeedsUserSelection>
      <Status />
      <SubTitle />
      <Description>Supernatural...</Description>
      <ImageType>Cover</ImageType>
      <SortOrder>Title</SortOrder>
      <SpannedFolders>
      <SpannedFolder Content="E:\HD\Continued Series\Supernatural" Enabled="true"/>
      </SpannedFolders>

      <GetMostRecentVideo>false</GetMostRecentVideo>
      <CleanUp>false</CleanUp>
      <Actors>Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, Katie Cassidy, Lauren Cohan</Actors>
      <BroadcastStatus>Continuing</BroadcastStatus>
      <AirsDayOfWeek>Tuesday</AirsDayOfWeek>
      <AirsTime>9:00 PM</AirsTime>
      <FirstAired>2005-09-13T00:00:00</FirstAired>
      <Language>en</Language>
      <Genre>Action and Adventure/Drama/Fantasy</Genre>
      <ID>78901</ID>
      <Network>CW</Network>
      <Rating>TV-14</Rating>
      <RunTime>27000000000</RunTime>
      <WatchSeriesIndex>4</WatchSeriesIndex>
      <Zap2ItID>SH754231</Zap2ItID>
    </Metadata>

    3. Sometimes the episodes of the different series don´t appear in order, the problem is that they are ordered by the <OriginalBroadcastDateTime>, instead of being ordered by the <EpisodeNumber>. In my case, I find a simple solution so the episodes appear in order:

    Change the originalbroadcastdatetime when two episodes have wrong order.

    To add something about my experience between TvLibrary and VideoLibrary, I can say that VideoLibrary is more efficient finding movies than it was the original TvLibrary, but I miss the moviematches.xml since the "Find Movie Info" button is not working for me :(

    Cheers & Keep up the Good work! ;)

    Re: Proof-of-concept for a tv library app for watching series in order

    Hi. Thanks for the feedback.

    1. The find info is a placeholder for a simple 'find' page I am working on

    2. I haven't been able to reproduce the spannedfolder problem yet. I look again

    3. LOL...some hated the moviematches.xml ...and I started hating too because I got tired of explaining it.

    EDIT 1....woah, wait, you're spanning a SERIES and not just a regular folder, right?

    EDIT 2. ....le sigh... confirmed that series are not loading up spanned folders or are re-initializing them. The last time I checked the spannedfolder problem (for Schlep or Ogre) i was looking at a regular folder...not a series folder --it didn't even occur to me.

    Re: Proof-of-concept for a tv library app for watching series in order

    "...thrice damn the coding errors of the oft-tired man..."

    Ok, SpannedFolder error reproduced, identified, and partially fixed. I just tested w/ a regular folder with a single span. I tried it with a series and so far so good!

    Schlep, looks like you weren't crzy after all :-D. Just kiddin'. My apologies for not cracking this sooner.

    Once i started tracing/debugging from the perspective of a spanned series, things started to click...thanks for that, Sazu85 :-).

    So tomorrow at some point when I do more tests I will post another build. I think i'll do a minor change up on the versioning since I'm approaching 2.0 too quickly --Especially since "2.0" implies big things and that's not the case here. Think of it as 1.0x.

    Re: Proof-of-concept for a tv library app for watching series in order

    Hello, I have been using this great plugin for my TV shows for a few weeks now and upgraded perfectly to Video Library with ease.

    I have now started getting a good collection of movies together and i cannot seem to get it to work with them? It basically isnt recognising/downloading any metadata for any of the films.

    My folder structure is for example

    D:\Movies\Bad Boys 2 (2003)\Bad Boys 2 (2003).avi

    The config file is pointing to the Movies Directory. Does this plugin support movies within sub directories? The reason i have it that way is to keep subtitles and various differnet movie related files seperate.

    Is their something within the Config file i need to chang to let the plugin know it is a movie directory?

    Thanks

    jandk4014:

    Is there a readme document to go along with the plugin.

    I noticed earlier in this thread you had linked to a readme, but now I can't seem to find it.  I just downloaded this plugin but I have no idea how to get started.

    Anyone have the readme?

    Ok, I will wait patiently for this "find page", till then since people don´t like moviematches.xml ! ¿Why?! xD I will look for the ID of the films that videolibrary doesn´t find in movie-xml.com

    JackLuminous:

    EDIT 1....woah, wait, you're spanning a SERIES and not just a regular folder, right?

    Yes, I am spanning Series and not regular folders, I make this because of the way I organize the folders with their respective contents.

    At this moment I have organize things this way:

    - HD/Films

    - HD/Series

    - HD/Continued Series

    - SD/Films

    - SD/Series

    This way, when I start video library I see two main folders Films & Series, in Films I see all the movies I have wheter they are HD or SD and in Series happens the same way. That´s the way I like it xD

    HD/Continued Series is not a watched folder, I just Spann this series, for example:

    I have Supernatural Season 01 and Season 02 in SD, and Season 03 in HD, so this series is the way I call it a "Continued Series" because some of it is in SD but the new seasons are now in HD, so when I spann the series folder before with the tvlibrary, the Season 03 appears next to the Season 01 and Season 02 in the video library.

    I hope I have explained xD

    Really, thanks for the support you are giving to this plugin. I really apreciate it.

    I will download the new version, as soon as it appears ;)

    Cheers & Keep up the good work ;)

    P.S. You should make a paypal account so we can make donations to you for your efforts trying to do the best library folder in the WMC.

    Version 1.06 dogfooded on my main HTPC then uploaded. See Changes.txt for information about metadata download (RE: worker threads, yada yada)

    If I remember right from earlier discussions, the year in your filename is what is preventing the matches when it searches for Metadata. The metadata source will have the movie listed as "Bad Boys 2", yet you have it as "Bad Boys 2 (2003)". Because of the year on your filename, it's not finding an exact match -- hence no data.

    Easiest way to have it find the matches is to rename your files and omit the year details -- the year will be pulled and stored as part of the metadata anyways.

    Re: Proof-of-concept for a tv library app for watching series in order

     Ah right Brilliant!!!

    I have just given that a try and it works great apart from one thing...

    For some reason. Im not sure if by design or a bug but it doesnt seem to create a cover image for the folder for example "Bad Boys.folder.cover.jpg". it does "Bad Boys.video.cover.jpg" and "Bad Boys.video.thumbnail.jpg with no problems.

    Maybe its just me due to having each video in its own folder?

    I made a copy of the "Bad Boys.video.cover.jpg" and just called it "Bad Boys.folder.cover.jpg" and it straight away put the cover on for me, its just alot of work as i have in the region of 150 movies.

    I'm sure the feature request list isnt short but could this possibly be added in afuter release?

    Re: Proof-of-concept for a tv library app for watching series in order

    Thanks for the confirmation! Schlep, can you confirm also? Thanks, mate.

    Ok, don't expect anymore builds this week, I am working a bare-bones find ui that's looong overdue.  I keep talking more about it than coding towards it.. :-D.

    Anyhoo, my first cut will be plain and simple. Here's what the user interaction will be

    1. User views video details and click  "find movie info"

    2. "Looking up [movie title]..." message

    3. If there are no matches at all, then a "Movie was not listed in provider database." or something like that. The user clicks finish and the flow ends.

    4. If there are matches, then a Matches Found gallery is displayed. Each gallery item displays some image and a synopsis.

    5. The user clicks a match to view more details. On the Match Details page, the user will have the options to "Pick this movie" or "Return to List"

    6. If the user clicks "Pick this movie", the metadata is updated and the flow ends. The user is returned back to the details page for the movie

    7. If the user picks "Return to list" then the user returns to the "Matches Found" gallery.

    How does this sound to everyone? Reasonable? Too many clicks? My objective is to provide the functionality while making the UI not require ANY explanation. (I am tried of typing >:-) )

    You got it. It's not doing what your expecting because each movie is in its own folder. If you have all movies in a single folder (i.e. C:\DVD), then it will work like you're expecting.

    One of the unique features of Video Library is that it seams more designed around DVD rips converted to xvid/divx/h.264/etc, rather then DVD Rips which keep the DVD folder structure ("Video_TS").

    Hope this helps
