Can you try the 1.1.4r2 release ... I was marking the 32-bit component as a 64-bit component during the install. Make sure you remove ExtenderSetupLib.dll from the places you dropped it before installing this version.

    Thanks,

    - EricL

Removed the ExtenderSetupLib dlls from their places, uninstalled, reinstalled with the new version and I'm still getting the File Not Found error for the ExtenderSetupLib file.  I don't see the vmcExtenderSetupLib.dll, is it supposed to be in the vmcNetFlix directory?  I checked the gac and the uninstaller successfully uninstalls vmcExtenderSetupLib.  The installer puts this in the gac:   vmcExtenderSetupLib, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=40f698d40dd01a96, processorArchitecture=x86
                  SCHEME: <WINDOWS_INSTALLER>  ID: <MSI>  DESCRIPTION : <Windows Installer>

Added Beta 1.1.4 to the download site - modified so that ExtenderSetup only uses 32bit WebBrowser component, even on 64bit platforms.

Hopefully, this will help initialize the movie player for those x64 platforms that stopped working after moving the ExtenderSetup into the plugin.

Could you have a look at the Instant Queue not showing up in vmcNetFlix? I've just installed the newest x86 release, and I still can't access it. Everything else works fine.

Instant Queue (WatchNow->InstantQueue) is working fine on my systems ... Anyone else having issues with Instant Queue not working?

I'm thinking the problem is that on Vista x64, Media Center is an x64 app and so it can't load the vmcExtenderSetupLib dll because it's a x86 dll.  I'm assuming that before you consolidated the setup with the plug-in itself the setup.exe was running as an x86 app and didn't have the problem using the browser.

If 1.1.4r2 still doesn't work, send an email to vmcNetFlix@gmail.com ... right now I don't have a x64 system to test with but I have a few other ideas I'd could try.

    Thanks,

Re: vmcNetFlix Beta 1.1.3 w/ Vista Extender Support (8/9/2008)

I just tried installing the latest version on my PC and no go.  I get an error stating that it is unable to locate my netflix player.  I uninstalled and reinstalled, again no dice.  I uninstalled my netflix player and reinstalled that no go.  I then tried the next previous version, no go with that either.
desktop runs x64 Vista Home Premium.

Next I tried on my laptop, same error message but in x86 Home Premium.

    any ideas?

I loaded 1.1.4 (didn't see an r2 on the site) and am now able to stream from my PC in MC, but am also getting "Invalid Application" on my 360 when I try to do the extender setup.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled both the software and the extender, no dice.

    Any ideas?

Re: vmcNetFlix Beta 1.1.3 w/ Vista Extender Support (8/9/2008)

I too am experiencing the same problem and i've been wrestling with it for a couple of weeks now.  I am running a x64 Vista ultimate system and VMCNetflix used to work fine. In fact it was awesome and rarely had any issues.  Once i upgraded, it stopped working.  Problem is that regardless of whether i try to go back to the earlier good version, it still doesnt work.  I have tried 1.1.4x64 also with no luck, i saw that the 1.1.4R2x64 had been deprecated.

After reading through the blog, i tried doing a search for the ExtenderSetupLib, ExtenderSetupLib.dll, and VMCExtenderSetupLib.dll without any luck. The search includes non-indexed files, hidden files, and system files.  I am guessing that i need to delete this file, wherever it may be.  I've uninstalled, reinstalled, etc...

...but on my Xbox i still get that i'm running an invalid application on the Xbox and it closes out of the VMCNetflix program to plain ole media center.  Any help would be appreciated, i have no idea what to do next and my girlfriend is bugging me about her Law and Order.  I need a quick resolution.  :)

Re: vmcNetFlix Beta 1.1.3 w/ Vista Extender Support (8/9/2008)

I think what's happening is that if the vmcExtenderSetupLib is compiled as a 64 bit dll, then it uses the 64 bit version of IE which does not work with the NetFlix player.  If the vmcExtenderSetupLib dll is compiled as a 32 bit dll, then it doesn't get installed into the Program Files folder because the Program Files folder on 64 bit Vista is only for 64 bit programs and vista doesn't like it if you try to put 32 bit apps in that folder.  Even if you could get the 32 bit vmcExtenderSetupLib installed, Media Center won't like it because in 64 bit Vista, Media Center runs as a 64 bit application.

Does anyone know how to embed the 32 bit IE in 64 bit Vista's media center?  myNetFlix seems to be able to do that, but I have no idea how.

it's unlikely you can get the 32-bit IE in the 64-bit dll for the same reason that MCE won't run the 32-bit dll.  What you can do however and yes I just made this work is to launch a 32-bit application from a 64-bit application.  What I did was extract the relavent webbrowser code out to an app and then have the vmc dll call it, wait for it to get done an voila it works fine.  I will try to package this for Eric and get it to him tomorrow.

This is how it worked before (in the 1.0.28 version) ... I'm currently working on integrating this back into an external app, but I'm adding additional communication between the plugin and the external app this time.

yeah I noticed it used to do something like that.  good so if you are working on it I won't bother trying to clean mine up.

That sounds promising as .28 was the only version that has ever worked for me.

vmcNetFlix Beta 1.1.3 with VMC TV Pack

Anybody try the plugin with TV Pack installed? I'm going to try it myself as soon as my recently purchased QAM tuner arrives, but I am just curious if anyone else has already installed TV Pack and whether the plugin continues to work or not...

    How long should it take?

Just curious...how long should it take to load this app (Vista x86)?  I finally got it loaded after about 20 minutes of the spinning circle.  I was able to browse things quickly and add items to the instant queue once I got in.  But when I click to watch one in the instant queue, it just sits with the spinning circle again and never let up.  It finally gave up with no error.    Watching the same movie through IE works great.  This is on the VMC PC itself; not an extender.  As a reference we have 39 movies in the DVD queue and 7 in the instant queue.

On an extender, I get a message indicating that Netlfix will be setup for the extender; after confirming I get a quick message saying something like the extensibility host stopped working.  Lastly, I get the same results with or without the Windows firewall on.

I have downgraded to 1.0.28 with no improvement (thought I noted some users had better luck with older versions).

Great concept and I look forward to future versions and will give it another shot.

    Thanks
