Re: New vmcNetFlix Add-In for Vista Media Center

I was wondering if it's possible to have the vmcNetFlix icon available in the TV + Movies menu area.

I know it's possible to have it in the programs menu area but it sure would be a more seamless integration this way.

Glitch...I stopped a movie and went back to my main menu, then when I tried to open vmcNetflix it wouldn't...had to restart Vista.

    Thanks again.

Re: New vmcNetFlix Add-In for Vista Media Center

This plugin rocks!  the only thing i need to be added is the choice of episodes for tv series instant watching.  Once that is in the plugin, i am set!

    VMC: HP d5100t, 3 cablecards, Linksys dma2100
Server 1: WHS Quad Core, 4.5TB Storage and growing.
Display: 42 inch LCD and 92" HD Projector.

I agree, I almost did this initially because it makes more sense to me as well ... but I put this in the program menu initially because it's beta and such, however, I'm planning to add an install option allowing you to choose during the install.

Actually, that is working as expected =)  There is a glitch in Vista Media Center which does not allow existing application to come to the forground, but they have a fix for it that you can get at:

    http://support.microsoft.com/KB/943470

Not exactly sure, but I'd also assume the fix went into SP1.

It'd be great if it's an option, since some (like me:-) have customized the VMC Menu: I have pruned all the unwanted options and have created a custom strip for things like vmcNetFlix, Movies, and MyTV series.

Sharp_1, you can do a bit of menu customizing with this: http://www.mcefrance.com/forum/index.php?topic=5359.msg36552#msg36552 and for more check out this thread http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/thread/207333.aspx

***Not sure why all the code looking stuff is on my post...sorry!!!

    eluttmann1:

You are correct!!! I installed Vista SP1 and my issue with getting back to vmcNetflx after leaving UI has been cured. Thank you!!!

After some serious testing I have a few comments:

    1) Selected a few watch later movies to download, the selected movies are downloaded then when I goto watch the downloaded movie I get an error saying the file can't be played.

    2) I am also not able to view trailers/previews to movies that have the preview button illustrated. I get the same error, can't be played.

    3) I noticed that when I am navigating through the vmcNetflix menus i.e.: Top 50, Drama, Comedy, etc...and I am scrolling through the coverart for Top 50 and want to get back to where I left off in the menu (Top 50) my control goes up to the nemu item that is directly above the coverart I am currently on not back to the menu item I am currently viewing.

    4) After viewing coverart and changing movie genre, the coverart is not going back to the first selection for the genre...it seems to be staying at whatever coverart selection number that I was at in the previous genre that I was viewing.

    5) I would also like to see the coverart within the detail window after selected, where the play selections are being shown.

    6) When a movie is selected to play I have a screen blip that I have seen before in other Netflix plugins however less pronounced it's still there. I wonder if there is a way for a 2 second delay could be made in the trasision to avoid having to see the screen jump a bit.

    7) Loading the plugin brings up a big ugly red Netflix logo...can this be avoided...it makes my eyes hurt.

    8) Great job making the little round wheel animation processing icon work...makes the plugin feel more seemless.

I don't think any of the other Netflix plugins can shake a stick at yours right now.

The searching and watsh later features make this a killer application!!! Great Job!!!: {}}; YAHOO.Shortcuts.hasSensitiveText = false; YAHOO.Shortcuts.sensitivityType = []; YAHOO.Shortcuts.doUlt = false; YAHOO.Shortcuts.location = "us"; YAHOO.Shortcuts.document_id = 0; YAHOO.Shortcuts.document_type = ""; YAHOO.Shortcuts.document_title = ""; YAHOO.Shortcuts.document_publish_date = ""; YAHOO.Shortcuts.document_author = "sharp.2006@yahoo.com"; YAHOO.Shortcuts.document_url = ""; YAHOO.Shortcuts.document_tags = ""; YAHOO.Shortcuts.annotationSet = { "lw_1206730609_0": { "text": "http://support.microsoft.com/KB/943470", "extended": 0, "startchar": 635, "endchar": 672, "start": 635, "end": 672, "extendedFrom": "", "predictedCategory": "", "predictionProbability": "0", "weight": 1, "type": ["shortcuts:/us/instance/identifier/hyperlink/http"], "category": ["IDENTIFIER"], "context": "have a fix for it that you can get at: http://support.microsoft.com/KB/943470 Not exactly sure, but I\x27d also assume the fix went", "metaData": { "linkHref": "http://support.microsoft.com/KB/943470", "linkProtocol": "http", "linkRel": "nofollow", "linkTarget": "_blank" } }, "lw_1206730609_1": { "text": "Netflix", "extended": 0, "startchar": 2155, "endchar": 2161, "start": 2155, "end": 2161, "extendedFrom": "", "predictedCategory": "MOVIE", "predictionProbability": "0.689123", "weight": 0.35, "type": ["shortcuts:/us/instance/organization/company/company_name", "shortcuts:/us/instance/organization/domain"], "category": ["ORGANIZATION"], "context": "a screen blip that I have seen before in other Netflix plugins however less pronounced it\x27s still there. Can you try a couple things on these files ... They are stored in the public Video folder under a vmcNetFlix directory - see if you can play them within Media Center through the Videos folder.  If not, you might try outside of Media Center using Media Player.  Just trying to find out if it's a download issue or if it's a launch issue.

It might also be a DRM licensing issue, so one other thing I suggest is setting up Netflix using internet explore on the VMC PC so that it has the cookies required to login automatically - when it gets the DRM license, it might use that path to obtain it.  However, I don't think it should effect the previews - which is also not working for you - so I'm not sure.

Thanks for the feedback - most of the other stuff I've noticed too and will look into it as some point,

    - EricL

Re: New vmcNetFlix Add-In for Vista Media Center

Your right...it looks like I am "missing media usage rights".

I opened Netflix "watch it now" and played a movie using the Netflix UI in IE...maybe I'll try to reboot and see what happens.

This forum is acting very strange today...I can't quote anything or post screenshots...huh.

    Thanks!!!
