    Recording Digital Cable

I just recently started considering using media center as a dvr.  i bought a hauppauge hvr-1600 which works fine for analog, but won't work with my digital cable box.  my idea tuner card will be able to a dual tuner card that can record digital cable from my digital cable box.

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

No good answer for you with VMC.   I use Sage beta with Hauppauge HD-PVR for Comcast HD channel recording.

check out this thread for the clear QAM plugin for your tuner

if you want to be able to record premium channels with media center you will need to buy a whole new computer that is "cablecard certified".  if you want more details just search here for "cablecard" there are tons of threads the discuss the fact that you cannot build your own computer that will support cablecard.
