Full screen on 2nd display ???

    Hi,

Been a while since I have been in here and wondering if anything has changed ??

Is it possible yet to have MCE come up on the 2nd display screen (LCD TV) in fullscreen mode when you open it and play a movie on the first display (Monitor) without having to drag the whole thing over to the LCD TV ??

Can't see why this is a problem when it works with every other video play out there (WMP, PDVD, VLC etc...)

    Thanks,
    Dash

Yes, I use "The Maxifier" to do just that.

This is exactly what I am looking for except I need it to work with XP. Don't want to go with Vista as it's time is short :o)

    Thanks for the reply...

Hi, not sure if it will work as you want but i use UltraMon in both Xp and Vista for such tasks, not tried it with MCE as my VMC box in single screen only,

http://www.realtimesoft.com/ultramon/   - 30 day trial is good for all the features

    Hope it works

Re: Full screen on 2nd display ???

Mine opens on my Secondary screen full screen everytime. All I recall doing is dragging it over on XP and Vista and then press and hold "Ctrl" while I exit out of the program. This usually makes windows memorize the last configuration postition and view. Now to get it to open Mazimized I just use the "Green Button" on the remote everytime and it goes full screen. Hope this helps.

The only issue I have is my mouse being locked on the Full Screen application. But a simple press of the "Start" button I release it. As a matter of fact I am watching L.O.T.R and replying now here.

Did you mean the "Start" button on the taskbar? How do you get there if the mouse is locked out? I normally close VMC when I need to use the primary monitor, but it would be neat to be able to use both at once. Thanks...

Re: Full screen on 2nd display ???

I meant the keyboard Start Button usually the bottom left and has a windows flag on it. There are alternative method to this too. Alt + Tab combination which equals taskswitcher. But the start button is the fastest and easiest. Also you have to wait a until the gfx settle down before trying to use the mouse or you will immediately default back into the full screen application. You would think after all this time Microsoft would have recognized that if people are using Media Center they will most likely have a remote and using a mouse in the full screen enviroment should be optional only. I like to watch tv and browse the internet and if I want to close all running programs and start them up again primarily because I think they are wasting resources (we all know we do it routinely and accept this as normal). If I don't leave one open I will be back locked into Media Center. I don't know how many of y'all have tried Media Portal but it does manage to do full screen and not lock the mouse. It also does allow two sound cards at once. These would be major improvements to the Media Center enviroment.

Re: Full screen on 2nd display ???

I don't know this answers your question, you need to find the cord (the cord connecting to the hard drive to the monitor), but it is both sided.  You connected both the screen and the computer hard drive. If it is HDTV screen.

If you have a laptop, you need a white cord (not the audio cord or the monitor) connecting the laptop's back to the screen. If you still don't understand, ask the person in the electronic store and they will explain it to you.

Use your mouse and move it to the 2nd screen.  You may not see it on your computer/laptop, but it will show it on the 2nd screen.

You don't need to download program to do that.
