I've knocked together a quick rundown of the stuff I do, and the things I install on VMC. It was done for a friend of mine who is just joining the VMC fray, and wanted to make it easier for him to get up and running.

Without a doubt the most comprehensive list I've seen, but here are a few notes.

Hard coding a NIC only works if you can hard code the switch too, otherwise it makes it worse.

I disable Windows Update and set it to only notify, but then again I don't surf etc on my VMC.

There are no favorites, yet, but I hear there will be in Fiji. ;)

I'd also suggest using Vista Ultimate's image utility to create images, or use Acronis Drive Image or Ghost to make images so you can backup before making major changes to the system.

All good point's, cheers Ben. I have a tendency to think that people will know what there doing as a general rule (hence the network not mentioning switch ports etc), I'll make a change or two, thanks.

Oh and forgot favorites were not in RTM/SP1 ;)   ooops
