I like listening to my music collection, but I can't stand the visualizations - instead I'd rather have a TV channel showing on the screen with my music as the soundtrack.

Any ideas on how I can make this happen?

This isn't possible with VMC alone.  You would need a external mulizoned controller along with either software like Casatunes or a extender to use as a music source.

Couldn't you use Vista volume mixer to do this? You could play your music through iTunes or some other audio player and leave its volume up, then start VMC and the channel you want and then using the volume mixer you should be able to mute VMC and leave iTunes music running. Not ideal, but its a solution of sorts. (By the way I haven't tried this, but i think it should work)

This would work however I dont know of any seemless plugin control for VMC that would allow you  to control the volume and music with a standard mediacenter remote control.
