    Best software for satellite ?

    I am looking to replace Vista Mediacenter with something more friendly to satellite.
    What is the best thing anyone's been using ?

    I 'm looking for :

    * DVB-S / DVB-S2 support (MPEG2, H264) with HD support
    * Progdvb-type plugins supported
    * 10-foot interface lookalike
    * support for favourites lists (eg. News, English, Dutch, German, XXX, ...)
    * support for multiple tuners
    * Diseqc support
    * support for Paytv via CI module
    * EPG so you can easily program your recordings

    I know that there are several solutions to bridge the gap between MCE, they emulate a DVB-T driver, so that you can use your satellite tuner with VMC.
    The Technotrend S2-3200 card I have lets you remap your channels to DVB-T, the same goes for the Hauppauge Nova HD-S2 card I have.

    However :

    * Mediacenter was never designed to operate with hundreds of channels
    * Mediacenter does not support DVB-S2 (no HD, no H264)

    The other alternatives I have looked at seem to lack the user-friendly interface you get when working with Mediacenter.

    So how do you watch satellite TV in Europe via your PC ?
    Anyone have any recommendations for me ?

    Thanks in advance.

    I know that that one exists, but then I still have  :

    * no subtitles
    * no teletext
    * no HD

    Thanks for the suggestion, though.
    I 'm trying all programs I can find, so I might have to settle for a half-baked solution anyway.

    not sure about subtitles and teletext, but the MyTheater/Dvbsbridge combo works fine for HD as long as its MPEG and not h.264.

    In the future updates to mytheater and dvbsbridge should allow for h.264 and multiple tuners.

    sagetv might do more of what you need right now.

    There is a version of FFDshow over at DVBN that will display Closed Captions, but I don't know about subtitles.

    I know about DVBSBridge, but you see, almost all HD in Europe is H264, which is better quality than MPEG2 at the same bandwith usage.

    For the moment I 'm using DVBViewer Pro, and although it is not ideal, at least I can watch all HD channels.
    I guess we will have to wait until MS finally upgrades Mediacenter, and starts supporting CI modules, DVB-S, DVB-T properly, DVB-C, H264, etc.
