Hi

i just noticed this problem today

I've been watching dvds fine but thats because I ussually make a backup copy (remove region, protection etc) so the kids dont scratch the original, these play fine in powerdvd and more importantly play fine in vista media center

but today i tried a couple of original retail dvds and vista media center plays the sound fine but the picture is scrambled with coloured pixels on the screen, but it plays fine in powerdvd. The funny thing is though, if i make a backup copy of the same movie it plays in vista media center, so that leads me to belive vista media center is not decrypting the original or something... anyone have any ideas?

 

I also noticed that my media center is set to option #1 for zoom (4:3) if i change that to anyother setting 2-4 while watching tv, a ripped dvd, protection removed dvd the picture starts to flicker and its all messed up

 

i've installed latest ati hd3200 drivers, no luck, had vista install its recommended drivers no luck, plz help

anyone?

please someone must have an idea

1. Check which codec vista is using with this http://mediacenterexpert.blogspot.com/2006/07/vista-media-center-decoder-utility.html

2. is anydvd running? try enable/disable

3. what resoltion is your TV (720P 1080P standard def). Make sure Media center is set up correctly. It has its own settings seperate from your graphics card settings for the desktop.

1) Microsoft MPEG-2 Video Decoder

(other options are: CyberLink Video/SP Decoder(PDVD7 HomeNetwork), NVIDIA Video Decoder, CyberLink Video/SP Decoder (PDVD7))

2) dont have anydvd

3)720p for desktop and media center

Try changing your codec to power dvd.
