    Volume of speech vs music/effects

I've got my MCE hooked up to my pioneer and I've noticed that when playing HD content (mkv in particular) produces sound with different volumes...

....I'm noticing that sound to do with background music/explosions/special effects is about twice as loud as the speech...so when I'm watching an action movie...I'll have to turn up the volume to listen to the details when people are speaking, however, will get really shocked when the movie starts playing the action music....any suggestions??

I"m just using the onboard 35mm jack from my motherboard (asus p5k)

    what kind of speakers?
what are you using to decode the mkv audio?
if its ffdshow/ac3filter make sure that the output mixer settings in these applications match the actual number of speakers you have.

    that was a great help...

Sorry I should have been more specific...the pioneer is my plasma...I'm just using the speakers from the tele.

I am using fddshow as the audio decoder. it was set to 2speaker stereo, however, I'm in the middle of playing around with the settings a little......and so far, there is a difference....I'll have a little play with the settings to see how I go.

    Thanks for that
