I might have found a solution that allowed me to record past 8:11. this forum will not let me post it (I get really tired of writing long posts only to find this forum gives me a page not available and you have to start over)
so I posted it over at Dell forum, but found that by editing this post I could get it here... Stupid board
Same here. Only upgraded to try and fix the problem that occurred on A03. But I have some good news..
Last night I systematically approached this issue. I decided to do a system restore. I had done this before but only simply. It occurred to me that when you do a system restore Vista just goes ahead and installs all the updates it has previously downloaded as soon as you boot up so really if you are trying to undo an update system resotre in its simplest form is no good.
So here is what I did.
1) Delete and remove all downloaded windows updates. This requires you to delete the data in the following folders c:\windows\softwaredistribution\download and c:\windows\softwaredistribution\EventCache
2) Unplugged my ATI tuners.
3) Disconnected my internet connection (this is important because when you restore, it will restore yur windows update settings and if set to download automatically will immediately start getting the updates again if you have an internet connection)
3) Performed a system restore back to May 13
4) Went into control panel and turned updates to notify me first
5) Rebooted
6) Now that we have removed all updating, I began to reinstall the tuners, first without the cable cards. Plugged them in and did a TV set up
7) Then I flashed the 1.17 firmware to the tuners. Waited 7 minutes
8) Turned off the system and plugged in the cable cards
9) Turned on the computer
10) Went into Media Center and activated the digital part
11) Prayed......
At exactly 8:11 my pc continued to record the program it was scheduled to record at 8pm. This is the first time in days that an 8pm recording has actually recorded properly. As of 7am this morning everything was still working. If 8pm comes and goes this evening I will breath more easily, but for me it is possible (touch wood) that this has solved it.
The reason the system restore did not work before was because of the windows update issue, just reinstalling the updates on top of the restore as soon as it boots.
If as of 8pm it is still working it will confirm to me the problem was caused by a windows update.
