    Re: XmRadio - No Audio

I have contacted XM (via e-mail) and gave a brief description of the problem and gave them the link to this thread as well as a couple of others from other forums.

I don't know where the responsibility lays to fix this. Microsoft, Adobe, or XM.

I would suggest others do the same. If I am the only one complaining, it will probably hit the recycle bin.

Downgrading flash worked for me as well.  Luckily, I don't web surf on my TV so it's not a big deal for me to downgrade.

Thanks guys for improving the WAF of MCE again!

It's anybody's guess as to whose problem this is, the fingerpointing will probably go on for months.

Thanks for finding this one!  I have been pulling my hair out trying everything.  Never thought to downgrade flash.  BTW, Flash 9 can be removed under "Programs and Features" in control panel.  Flash 8 doesn't work either.  But Flash 8 AX doesn't have an uninstall there.  Instead go here:

    C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash\

    Rename Flash8g.ocx to  Flash8g.ocx.bak

The last release of Flash 7

    flashplayer7r73_winax.exe works great for me.

    Re: XmRadio - No Audio

I tried teh same thing as to install v8 and then could not uninstall it. I am not as capable so I just installed v9, which uninstalled v8 and tehn uninstalled v9 to reinstall v7.

I sent a long winded note to Adobe to let them know.

Thus far I have contacted XM (many times), Dell, Microsoft, and now Adobe.

This is like the "keystone cops".

That is so awesome - it now works on my extender....I love it.

Just so everyone knows - I used the last of the 7 series installers.  I originally used the second to last, but just got a ton of errors in both VMC and the extender session.  using the 73 installer fixed all issues!!!

Thanks to all who worked on this and found the resolution.

    Re: XmRadio - No Audio

I sent a note to Adobe via their support portal. The case is still open and there has not been a response to me as of yet. I think they may be mulling over it a bit since I did not get the standard answer...you know..."did you reboot the computer?"...

Now that there is source of the problem, perhaps we can all let teh various vendors know.

I would suggest that other people let Adobe know about this issue.

I also do not believe XM wants to work on the issue. Since the XM software appears to be theirs, I submitted a question to them a week ago concerning these problems and they have not responded.  I then submitted a more generic "I cannot stream XM to my Vista computer" question and received an immediate response with their standard responses.

I then replied to support with the details of this problem with Flash player 8/9, and now they won't reply to that message either.  One of the questions I asked was if the software I installed belongs to XM, which they haven't even answered.

    Re: XmRadio - No Audio

i have tried the remedy here to no avail.

    have went from 7.73 to 8 to 9 uninstalled 9 . installed 7.

    nothing.

also with same symtom although maybe not related.

mcshoutcast plugin just says connecting for additional information everytime you click play.

this is bizzare. i tryed renaming deleting the files. reinstalling. taking ownership to make sure something wasnt hung up. Nothing is working to get XM back. Although it works fine in sidebar plugin. The 10 FT xm channel changer is busted for me.

Any ideas? Cleaned the registery as well for flash. Its just doesnt work anymore.

Even tryed installing vista codec pack 4.72

    Re: XmRadio - No Audio

I still have the issue. If I install the newest version of Adobe Flash Player, then the XMRadio does not work. If I uninstall v9 and install v7 (with the active X control), then I have VMC function with XM. Unfortunately, almost all the web pages require v9 to be installed.

Another annoying aspect is that my Media Extender will not play the XM station because it is based off the host computer.

Sadly, my computer at work has no problems whatsoever.

I tried all the various uninstall/reboot/install/reboot variations, but to no avail.

I do not have this problem (no XM) but I thought of something. Is it possible to install multiple versions of Flash if you have multiple web browsers on the same machine? The idea would be to let IE use the old version of Flash, but install Opera, Firefox, or SeaMonkey and have it use the latest version of Flash. In theory, you could access XM through Media Center/Extender while viewing websites in the alternate web browser.

    Re: XmRadio - No Audio

I have a similar thought, but did it a little different. I had Flash Player v7 installed and then had the Media Center open while I installed v9.  The XM Radio still played because the Media Center was open and v9 did not install there. I had v9 working in IE and then v7 in VMC; with VMC still open, XM worked fine. As soon as I closed VMC and re-opened it, XM no longer played.

    Re: XmRadio - No Audio

I've had the same problem for some time. XM was working great with Vista Home Premium, using a Sidebar gadget... and then stopped working.

The error I get when I try to play XM with the WMP says that 'xmmediaplayer.controls' is null or not an object.

This leads me to think that the problem comes from XM. The XM gadget's site showed posts with the same problem... but they couldn't figure out what the issue was.

It's got to be XM itself - and I've been paying for the online service!

I'll try downgrading Flash, but I don't know that I can do without not being able to view or open websites that require more recent Flash versions.

Any help from anyone would be excellent ;) Let's find a solution.
