No, it pulls streaming content, not organizes downloaded content. You can acess that through Videos anyway (although the names are useless).

Re: BBC iPlayer addin for vista MCE

tried the latest version (1.6, i think) and its much faster now that it pre loads the cache. how much info does it download every hour, in MB? jus curious as i have a 3G mobile broadband dongle, and i don't want to download too much info if i'm only gonna be using it once a day.

Another thing, can you add the live BBC News 24 feed to it?

    Cheers

It pulls about 150 web pages each time, each about 25k in size. Obviously it varies with the whim of what the content providers put on the page.

Tried V1.6. Much improved with new BBC iPlayer but it leaves the flash play arrow on the screen during playback (and clicking it brings up an error)

    ITV i superb with it

Channel4 has one the problems reported by an earlier correspondent in that after selecting a program it will play the advert preceding a program then stop (on ascreen which I thinks says "For more info go to Channel 4.co/...". My previous experience of 4OD requires a username/ password login to use the system, maybe interaction with thisthis is the problem.

Listings for all channels are very good.

A very fine piece of software

Thanks for the feedback. With the BBC play arrow, wait until it fades from the small window before clicking OK twice. That will stop it from appearing.

With C4, I just don't get any issue at all. Is there a particular program/episode I can try with? The streaming content for C4 doesn't require a login on their web site when I use it, but did you try it in IE yourself? Have you got 4OD installed? (I have).

Re: BBC iPlayer addin for vista MCE

    Hi Martin,

With C4, I tried to watch "the F word" (1st July episode) it plays fine in IE, but not in MCE.

it asks me do download media usage rights twice, once before the adverts, and once before the actual program starts, it also has parental guidance control, and you need to click something to confirm you're over 18- maybe that has something to do with it.

another thing, kinda off topic... I noticed last night. I was playing music in MCE through my home theatre setup, and then decided to watcch some tv usung TunerFreeMCE, when I started playing it, the sound from the TV came out of my skype phone (plugged in via USB) but when i switch back to music (or anything else) it comes out of my speakers again.- it does the same in IE, but why? anyone have any ideas on this?

I have been using 1.6 for a few days now.  The channel list appears much quicker now.

I have had problems with the DOS window popping up every hour (while watching a DVD) - is there any way to supress this?

Thanks for the feedback - I'll look in to suppressing any window coming to the front.

I can reproduce now on the F-word. I don't get a problem on programs like big brother though. Do you see the same?

On vista, you can set the sound output device on a program by program basis. I suspect for Flash you have it going to your phone.

    Thomas S:
1: sometimes vista media center pops up with a dialogue box saying: "invalid aplication:  iplayer" when i click on TunerFreeMCE and asks me if i want to close the app, i currently just need to shut down VMC and re-open to fix it. but it does get quite annoying.

    Hi Martin,

I am having a similar problem, but the message "Invalid Application: iplayer" occurs when I select any channel in the menu.

Restarting both VMC and my PC doesn't seem to fix it.

All channels play fine in IE. This is really frustrating as this looks like a fantastic piece of software, but it just isn't working for me at all.

Any ideas how I can fix this?

    Many thanks,

    -CL

    Hey Martin,

I have to admit, I have mixed results on the beta, on my own desktop (and extender) - it has worked fine (not bbc on extender obviously).

On other machines I have had programs invalid or stopped responding, and the occasional hang up still on loading.

I have set the timer to go once in the morning, as everyhour seemed a bit too much (and theres n easy way of making it every few hours).

I'll try and replicate the issue on my own machine if I can.

Are you saying that on some machines you see other programs stopping running if the TunerFree MCE software is installed, or that the TunerFree MCE application stops responding, or that the background program hangs?

BTW - setting the background program to run daily even shouldn't be a problem, but if you make it any less than that, the BBC programs will not have the right date, since the date stamped on them is the date they are first found.
