This is just a small little thing.

My internet connection went down last night.  Since we were just watching tv we didn't realize it was down.  We started up the netflix app and it kept rejecting our password saying it wasn't correct.  So I'm wondering if it would be possible to have a different error when you put in a bad username/password then when it can't connect instead of me blaming my wife for incorrectly entering in the password 5 times in a row ;-)

Ya, seems like NetFlix likes to do alot of "schedule maintence" late at night (instead of early morning).

I'll see if there is something I can do about determining and reporting the difference.

Yes this is exactly what I am trying to to but on the vmc it will not reinitialize it just wants to obtain a new licence every time after I have cloned to the 360 it will reinitialize on the 360 though and ask to clone again which is fine but every time I do that I have to obtain a new licence on the vmc

You will get messages on the VMC that do not get shown the Extender (the Extender player is more limited on what it will and will not show). 

Couple questions:

1) On the VMC, if you wait a few seconds (8-10) after getting the "obtain new license" message you should get a popup indicating that there was an unknown error when attempting to play the movie - it asks if you want to re-initialize the movie player.  Are you getting this message?

2) What are the steps you are going though on the 360 in which it is asking you to clone again?  You should not have to do this, if you play the movie and it fails, you should get the same popup in #1 above asking if you want to re-initialize.

Install 1.0.7.8, or if you want you can wait until my next release which will be either tonight or tomarrow.  The next release will include an option to extend the timeout when initializing the movie player, which might help in some cases.

I am having an issue that doesn't seem to be covered in the 100s of posts in this thread.
After a successfull install, I've tried launching the vmcNetflix AddIn and all I get is the logo. There is no UI started and after about 15 seconds, WMC goes back to the programs library.
I tried launching the VmcExtenderSetup.exe manually, but that doesn't start it either.
When I do manual start, I see the following error in event log:

The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID
{0C0A3666-30C9-11D0-8F20-00805F2CD064}
 to the user SID (S-1-5-21-67615675-1334458428-1962254683-1010) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool.

This is on Vista SP1 Ultimate.

I added code to detect connection states, so I'm wondering if something there is causing this problem.  It's most likely an issue with installing and running for the first time - you might try uninstalling and then installing 1.0.7.5, verify that you can get to the main menu, then uninstall and re-install this 1.0.8.0 release.

vmcExtenderSetup.exe won't run correctly until the vmcNetFlix app has properly signed on once - so that does not suprise me.

FYI ... I duplicated this on a clean install and I know why its doing what its doing.  I'll fix this and release an update tonight.  However (like I suggested above) installing an older version, log-in (select 'remember the login') and then going to the new release should workaround the problem.

Right now, it does not support upgrading ...  you have to uninstall and then reinstall.  Or, are you unable to re-install after uninstalling the old version?

The latest version (1.0.8.1) works great.

Thanks for implementing title description in single row browsing.

One minor suggestion: the text of the description flows too close to the left edge of the white window - it'd be nice if it's centered.

Sorry for so many releases so close .. but I know some were waiting for the sort feature.

Release Notes Beta 1.0.9 (4/26/2008):

• Added support for sorting gallery items by Title or Year, select your sorting preference in Settings->Gallery Options
• Centered the summary text.
• Fixed some issues with the installer, which should now upgrade and repair.  Also, moving from a 4 field version to a 3 field version - which solved some of the install problems.
