Re: vmcNetFlix Beta 1.0.28R1 w/ Vista Extender Support (7/3/2008)

    byronm:
I just got this installed on a fresh Media Center setup (vista) and it seems to work however selecting a movie and waiting for the movie details to come up seems to take a few minutes and will often warn me to cancel or continue but if i continue the movie details come up and i can hit play.  Is there something i should checkout in my configuration to speed this up or is this a symptom of Netflix making another change and the vmcnetflix sort of spinning its wheels looking for what it expected to find?

Fresh install as of the latest download available on an SP1 Vista machine running Xbox 360 extenders, testing with 1 extender to make sure nothing else is impacting the setup at this point.

The next release should addres this issue.

Thanks! look forward to the next release, guess my eyes just quit working for me last night, i was drooling over the xbox 360 announcements and didn't notice the people with similar slow description issues ;)

Re: vmcNetFlix Beta 1.0.28R1 w/ Vista Extender Support (7/3/2008)

For some reason, I now can only see 24 movies in each category (except top 50). Anyone else having this issue? Was working before.

Just installed the latest release 1.0.28R2

For those wishing to try the latest beta, you can find it here:

    http://code.google.com/p/vmcnetflix/downloads/list

It contains several changes to address performance and cache problems, adds "Watch New" and "Browse New" menu items, and the existing "Browse Now" menu item now lists all the movies, not just the Top 25.

Re: vmcNetFlix Beta 1.0.28R1 w/ Vista Extender Support (7/3/2008)

Has anyone been experiencing DRM issues. Monday morning I was watching a movie and then all of the sudden I get a player error.  Now everytime I try to play a movie again I get an error that states that VMCNetflix can not obtain a media usage license.

This is weird because I used the clone option when I set up the extender and I was able to play the movie on both the netflix player and in Media Center on the PC, but it won't work on the extender.  I tries to reset the extender, clear cache and initilize the player on the extender and still no go.

    Anyone else have these issues.

Eric, the 1.1.0 build fixed the only showing 24 movies problem. Thanks!

UPDATE: Microsoft and Netflix Partner up officially.
Dunno how long this app is going to be around since the new agreement was signed with netflix and Microsoft for the new upcoming features this fall, but worth a read.

Am I missing something, or does this post make no sense at all? The press release talks about XBox Live, which is fine if you are using an XBox 360, but I don't see how this impacts this application, or VMC. I don't see an indication that Netflix viewer will be integrated in VMC any time soon, at least not from the MS press release. Do you know something we don't? If not, why would you wonder "how long this app will be around?"

Well the article i read on msnbc.com also stated the xbox gold version will not be the entire watch now library, only about 10K of the 100K or so on netflix. This in MHO makes the news pointless because watchnow is already very limited in the amount of quality streams so why do i want to do it over xbox live to get even less.

The only people who are going to use it are people who already have both subs. I'll keep using vmcnetflix since i get full access to what im already paying for once. That and the download for watch later is the bomb and renders even the roku a stupid POS because of it.

    LONG LIVE VMCNETFLIX!!

Re: vmcNetFlix Beta 1.0.28R1 w/ Vista Extender Support (7/3/2008)

I'm pretty sure they were referring to the amount of movies in their dvd library vs watch now. It wouldn't make any sense to artificially limit the database so perhaps you read wrong or the article was incorrect.

side: Yah I'll probably get a hdhomerun, but I'm dragging my feet. As soon as I buy one I know hauppage or microsoft will get my hvr1600 working :)

Did this happen under "Watch New" or "Watch Now" ... I added a new category on the menu called "Watch New" which only lists what netflix considers 'new' movies which should be consistant with what is listed under New Arrivals under Netflix Watch Instant  section - and this list can be short in some genre.

"Browse New" should list the movies under New Releases under Netflix Browse DVDs.

yeah 24 titles bug for me too.  also.. not accepting netflix login name correctly the first 4 times I tried.   username@yahoo.com was logging in as username@yahoo.co

so I tried yahoo.comm  it still said .co

so I tried yahoo.commm  then it said .commm

so I tried yahoo.com and this time is said .com and logged me in.

    weird stuff.

Definitely "Watch Now" had the 24 titles bug. I THINK the "Watch New" did not but I'm not 100% certain.

Watch New worked fine.  It was Watch Now that had the problem for me.
