    Re: Program is still gone!

So I still cannot get the plugin to re-appear under installed applications - BUT - I do see it on the extender.  I can actually still login to my account and navigate around, but haven't been able to play a movie (getting the missing codec error, which is not abnormal for me).  Am I just seeing something that is cached on the 360?  I didn't think it saved any of that.

Still looking for other suggestions.  I did the complete uninstall, followed by a reinstall.  I confirmed I was looking at the full list of programs.  I restarted VMC and the machine.  Reinstalled some more times.  Not sure what else to do.  Should I see files in a specific folder if it successfully installed within VMC?  I am running out of ideas.  Miss the plugin!

Affeking, I recently had this issue as well where it seemed my menu config got corrupted somehow.  I too saw the vmcNetflix on my extender, but not on my desktop pc.  I assummed it was the result of the Menu Mender add-in that I use to control the look and feel of my menu system.  Even within Menu Mender, it didn't showup under the program library or in the menus.  To resolve this, I used Menu Mender to restore back to the default menu structure, restarted menu mender and it was listed and also available on my PC in Media Center.

Not sure if this was general corruption in Media Center or due to Menu Mender itself, but in any case I am back in business.  If you don't have Menu Mender installed, check out the thread below and you can try downloading it and using it just for the restore capability..worth a shot anyway.

    VMC Netflix error

well the concept is great but it is far from being out of beta. I have had numberous problems. Right now it is slower on xbox 360 takes for ever to get anywhere on the menu except in settings, I keep getting Cannot play video: The file type is not recognized and cannot be played. either the correct codec (a file that compresses/decompresses audio or video) is not installed or the file is corrupt. I can play the video on in VMC and IE7 with no problems. have installed and reinstalled and followed unistall directions and no change

Re: vmcNetFlix Beta 1.0.28R1 w/ Vista Extender Support (7/3/2008)

I have everything installed, but when I try to login on either my PC or my 360 I get "NetFlix login for email xxxx@xxxx.com filed."

But I can login to the netflix website with that login just fine.

any ideas?  this is very frustrating.

OMG I just solved this... what a stupid bug.  it was chopping the last character off of my email... if you have this problem, simply add an extra letter to the end of your email. so lame.

    example:
    bob@bob.com --> bob@bob.comb

Re: Netflix subscription with one license

    anon-coder,

Sorry for the slow reply.  Thank you for confiming that I am not crazy!  Smile [:)]

    Eric,

Thanks for your reply too.  Stop-done does seem to serve the function of the "Back to Browsing" button in NetFlix's web gui.  This will help me be very careful starting and terminating a stream.  And thanks for making such a cool and useful product.

    Blu-Ray downloads?

I see there is a Blu-Ray section. I have successfully downloaded and watched Heroes from this section, it looks very good. Is this really HD quality? This plug-in is incredible. Exactly what I wanted/needed...Can't imagine this will last. No reason to ever buy a DVD again.

I beg to differ. The reason many people buy DVDs is for the special features. Being able to stream movies through Netflix or anything else for that matter won't effect things.

    Netflix Updated Site AGAIN

Just a heads up, netflix is making us enter our info now when we click watch and use their online player through a browser. I tried to play on my xbox today and had the file is corrupt issue, refreshed it many times and it didnt fix the issue, so I went into my PC and went to their site to see if they updated the player. Turns out they didnt, but now they have a new security implemented where once the video buffers, you have to re-enter your account info and I'm pretty sure this is keeping me from watching my videos on my xbox. Everything worked great last night, so they changed something over night. Good luck, I look forward to watching my netflix movies again on my 360 soon!

Open vmcNetflix on the PC and it should say you need a new license and ask if you want to do that.  Click yes and it opens a white "window" where you enter your account login.  After you submit it presents the option to watch via a button click and should play.  After this, try the 360.  The 360 extender may need to be reset etc.  Let me know if this doesn't work and I'll try to help if possible.  I'm mindlessly surfing but I'll check back....

    Re: Netflix Updated Site AGAIN

I have always gotten that license popup in IE after using vmcNetflix. When you re-enter your login, you're initializing the IE movie player.

vmcNetflix is doing the same thing in the background when you 'Initialize Player'. It just enters your login info for you.

If you can't see the fnord, it can't eat you.

    Re: Netflix Updated Site AGAIN

I'm having problems and I haven't even tried to use my extender yet. I can play movies just fine in IE7, and technically I also can using vmcNetflix, however when I click on a movie in vmcNetflix it takes 3 minutes or more to get to the details screen with the play button. It just sits there with the spinning loading animation. Once it finally gets to the page it will play fine. But it's really annoying to have to wait that long. And if I stop the video (such as when it's done) it returns me to the details page and I have to wait another 3 minutes before I can do anything. Same goes if I'd hit the back button. Any suggestions? This is on a clean install, though I had the same problem before I reformatted last night. On the previous install I had my extender set up and it behaved the same way as vmcNetflix.
