    Armaheadon:
So my friend just talked to a Dell Rep who said the tuners were discontinued. I am very skeptical about this and he is calling back now. They are still offering the tuners on their website.. but.. the price is much higher. 2 Tuners are a $491 upgrade..

any further details on the discontinuation?

    Montyward:

I was right at my 21 day return window for the computer so I called Dell to see if I can return it, since I don't want to be stuck with a computer without the tuners and I wanted to at least evaluate the entire system and decide if it was worth keeping.  They said I could return it now, or that I could have a $150 discount.  I asked for $300 and we ended up at $250.

Maybe you guys with delayed tuners can get a similar deal.

Dell and I had it out over this; the 21 day return date vs. the delivery date of the tuners.  They offered me absolutely nothing when I went to cancel.   I argued that I need to fully test the full product (including the tuners).  They had no idea what I was talking about; and offered me another tuner (non CableCard) which obviously did nothing for me.   I ended up getting things and they do work; but it was a frustrating time going back and  forth with Dell.  I would have preferred to have full system shipped together; as it was my 420 stayed in the box until the day before the delivery of the tuners.

    Frustrated (and jealous).

Re: ATI Digital Cable Tuners Back-Ordered by Dell

I'm seriously just thinking about cancelling the tuners order.  I really just wanted a DCT enabled box, which is what I got from my XPS 420 order. I  ordered it with tuners to insur I get the second PID for DCT.

Lets all call Ceton and beg them to move faster on their cards and stop throwing our money at ATI, who can't get this stuff working correctly, anyways.  Come on Ceton, I've got $400 wanting for your cards!

Re: ATI Digital Cable Tuners Back-Ordered by Dell

Yeah.. the rep has no clue. Somehow my friend is now in an exchange of emails with this rep who thinks the tuners he ordered have been recalled and they cancelled his order. Its clear from his emails, though, that he has no clue about these tuners. May be understandable.. if you put the item number for these tuners in at Dell, you get nothing. I have yet to find any information on the tuners at the Dell site.. so I can only blame the reps so much on this one. Dell doesn't even do a good job promoting these tuners with anybody. I just got my second delay today, and extended it without any problems.

You had me scared for a second. I just double checked my order from 3/30/08 and it is still due on 5/22/08.

Re: ATI Digital Cable Tuners Back-Ordered by Dell

Well, I just received my tuners from Dell.  Originally were supposed to be here on the 11th.  Weird thing is that they never told me they shipped, they just showed up.  I was also expecting that $250 credit that I negotiated earlier, but have yet to see that show up either.

We'll see.  Now the "fun" of activating these things.

Firmware updated and they're ready to be moved into the house.

So how long did it end up taking, four weeks?

Re: ATI Digital Cable Tuners Back-Ordered by Dell

Yeah, I placed the order on March 18th, so slightly under 4 weeks.  At the time, they said the tuners were a 6 day delay, now I think it is much more substantial.

My tuners finally shipped also!  Woohoo!

I ordered on the 15th, so took about 1 month.  VERY frustrating.

Re: ATI Digital Cable Tuners Back-Ordered by Dell

Mine shipped as well, yesterday, via DHL.  Should be here tomorrow.  Comcast is coming Thursday.  Did anyone else have to pay the $17.xx fee per CableCARD for installation?

Re: ATI Digital Cable Tuners Back-Ordered by Dell

The stock must of replenished as I ordered mine on 3/31 with a promise date of 5/22, and it is now marked as Shipped.

Not sure how to see the tracking number though.

Same here.. shipped today. Cox is charging me $29.00 per card for installation. I think bending over was my only option on that one.

Re: ATI Digital Cable Tuners Back-Ordered by Dell

Verizon tries to charge $50 for a visit to install CCs, but in the past I've told them that they could either waive the fee, or cancel my service, as the compeition Bright House Networks, doesn't change anything.

Either way, I'm going to try to take one of my CCs out of my old Series3 TiVo and see if I can just call to activate it. I've had similiar success in the past since I already have the CableCARDs.

    We'll see how it goes.

Re: ATI Digital Cable Tuners Back-Ordered by Dell

Looks like I should be happy with only being charged $17 per!

Ben, that's awesome you're getting them as well.  Although I am a little jealous it only took you two weeks!!
