    SHOUTcast MCE Add-in

I used the classMCE SDK to create a simple add-in for MCE that will let you listen to SHOUTcast streams directly in MCE:
    http://shoutcasttowmp.googlepages.com/shoutcasemceadd-in

This is my first attempt at an add-in, be kind. It seems to work well for MCE 2005... reports are positive for Vista as well. I would interested in some feedback.

    It's a freebie.

    Thanks!

Very cool. I'm also glad you picked that SDK to play with. Do you have any screenshots to post?

    Re: SHOUTcast MCE Add-in

This is some great work you've done,

Your installation instructions were clear & easy to follow, thus making
for a clean install on my newly re-built MCE 2005 system.

I would estimate that for every hour I spend watching television, I spend more than
3 hours listening to the radio (both broadcasts & webcasts) so, I can see myself utilizing
    Shoutcast MCE quite a bit.

I do however have a few questions/suggestions/feature requests...

    1)  I noticed that it doesn't show up in the "more programs" sub-menu on my
HP x5400, MCX. Is it possible for you to modify the code so as to allow
V1 extenders access to Shoutcast MCE or is this just another instance where
access to media content in the MCX environment is blocked or otherwise limited
         by design by MS?

    2)  As there are so many "shoutcasts" in existence, it would be nice if you included
a "search" box in your next revision to make it easier to find the Shoutcasts that
I am interested in listening to.

    3)  It would also be helpful if you included some way to bookmark "faves" for easier
access the next time Shoutcast MCE is launched.

    4)  Another thing that would make this plug-in even easier to use would be if you
placed a Shoutcast MCE "button" in the radio sub-menu so that I could choose
between it, RadioTime, WebMedia, AOL radio & my Hauppague terrestrial radio receiver

Once again, thank you for putting in the time to make it work!

    Re: SHOUTcast MCE Add-in

These are all great ideas. I will plan to add them over time.

Hmm... I will have to research how to make it show up on an extender. I will look into it.

    Thanks again!

    Re: SHOUTcast MCE Add-in

really great idea, i was looking for something like that.

Also i second the option to add a search and definitely a favorite option in order to bookmark our stations or even add manually the link to a already known station. I will prefer to wait for these options to be added if possible before i install this on my machine.

    keep up the good work

    FYI

You can save the current stream that you are playing for quick access later by going to "Edit Queue" and "Save as Playlist"... later you can access the stream by going to "My Music" and "Playlists" view.

I think that covers "favs"... in a common, albeit, round-about way.

Great, I'll try that next time I run Shoutcast MCE

    Re: SHOUTcast MCE Add-in

This is all great.  But we've been able to play shoutcast streams in WMC and VMC for a while now.

However, what I truely require, in order to uninstall winamp, is the ability to see the artist and track name IN the media center interface!

I have been wanting this forEVER, when I hear a song I like on shoucast, I must be able to know who it is.  I can not do this while listening in media center... !!!  :(

    Re: SHOUTcast MCE Add-in

Very nice - works a treat.

Is there a way to get it to display the station / artist on my vfd?

Im using frontview at the moment.

    Cheers
