Re: MCE Standby Tool 0.9.69 release notes

    Herman,

In Vista, when I start my system, I always get a message from windows defender saying that startup program have been blocked, and I am required to manually select "allow" in order to open MCE standby.  Is there a solution to this?

This would not be an issue, except I would like to schedule periodic reboots.  After a reboot, without MST the system would not re-enter standby.

Re: MCE Standby Tool 0.9.69 release notes

This has worked for me all the time:

    - Right click MST executable
    - Select run as administrator
    - Configure and install

The copy in the Program Files directory does not get admin rights this way. MST does not need admin rights for its common tasks, only for configuration.

So if you want to change the configuration, start another copy of MST with admin rights.

Make sure you remove the currently installed version. When installed with “Run this program as an administrator” checked in the compatibility tab it will ask for confirmation at reboot.

Re: MCE Standby Tool - Solving standby problems the easy way

    Hi All

I've being using MST Ver 9.54 on my MCE 2005 for almost 3 months and not an problem, until I installed Anydvd which causes MCE interface not to open correctly ,I have tried delay time standby time but still no go ,if I tick not not to start ehome with MST and open manually I don't have a problem, I just  don't understand what's the different from MST opening ehome to manually pushing a button to opening.

I also tried the lastest verion of MST, and what happens  I get a black screen when I use anydvd and the only way to fix it is press the reset button

I hope someone can help me

    thanks

VMS backup unsuccessful when using MST

I am using this wonder ful MCE standby tool with Vista Media Center. It works well except using with Windows Home Server.
I searched lots of forums and couldn't find the answer and I also posted the question in several forums and haven't got the answer yet. So I would like to
see if you are aware of this unique issue.

The issue is that when I use WHS, I set it backup my VMS at 4am everyday. It will wake the machine up but 15 minutes later WHS reports backup fails because
it can not connect to the VMC machine. It seems to me that the machine went back to sleep mode before WHS complete the backup.

The setup of MCE standby tool is below.

    Sleep state: S3
    MST is installed
eHome: Do not sto or start eHome
Idle: 'Suspend when a recording or guide update is finished' and  'Suspend when Media Center is running and idle' are checked.
    Idle timeout: 60 minutes
User: Suspend when Media Center is running and no user input - 2.5 hours.

    Any suggestions are appreciated.

Problems with Video Card when Standby Software Installed

    Hi hveijk,

I've recently started to experience problems with my Dell Dimension 3100 PC running XP MCE. Without your application installed when I hit standby by PC confirms that it it entering standby mode, but as soon as it goes to sleep it immediatly wakes up.

If I install your application then standby works as it should, however upon resuming I get the error message stating that my video card is not compatable with MCE, and until I reboot I cant watch any videos. I've tried different video drivers, but thats make no difference.

If I uninstall your app then standy doesnt work very well, but I dont get the video card incompatabilty error message.

There is obviously somthing wrong with my XP settings/drivers as using the same PC running Vista MC the standby works fine with the basic Vista defaults.

Any ideas why you app is upsetting my onboard Intel video card?

Re: Problems with Video Card when Standby Software Installed

    @dcdyd

The only solution I can think of is scheduling a manual recording at that time, this will force MST to keep the system awake. I will see if I can make a proper solution in a future version.

    @smithgt

I recently released a test build that uses a different method of closing eHome. You can find it in this thread: http://www.degroeneknop.nl/forum/index.php/topic,4182.0.html

It that does not work you can try to increase the delay before starting eHome.

Re: Problems with Video Card when Standby Software Installed

Quick question:  Is the MCE Standby Tool designed to overrule the OS power settings completely?  Meaning, if I make a change to my power options, should it still follow the MCE Standby Tool rules that I have configured?

I've noticed a recent irregularity with my VMCE system (which uses this great tool), and I'm trying to troubleshoot whether it has something to do with a recent change I made to my power options.

    Thanks,
    Aaron

Re: MCE Standby Tool - Solving standby problems the easy way

Hi, I've downloaded and installed the MST tool and it's very good, does as it says on the tin.

I'm getting some problems, however, when the computer resumes from S3 standby. My video card and remote control no longer work and when MCE starts it says that there is no compatible video device. A reboot fixes this and everything is back to normal.

I have read about the devcon tool, is this still the best way to fix this problem? I.e. just refresh the drivers on resume? I only ask as it seems like a bit of a hack and I was wondering if there is a better way than this?

    Thanks,
    Andy

Re: MCE Standby Tool - Solving standby problems the easy way

    hi

i have the latest mce standby tool v 0.9.75.

ive just noticed when watching live tv, mst thinks media center is running idle and therefore starts counting. eventually the pc goes into standby.

it does not do this when watching a dvd, recorded programme or listenin to music. only live tv.

    the idle settings are:

'Suspend when a recording or guide update is finished'
'Suspend when Media Center is running idle'
    5 Mins

the user tab is set to:

'Suspend when Media Center is running and no user input'
    2.5 hours

    any help is appreciated!!

    cheers

edit: just noticed this is in the mce 2005 section, i am running Vista. is it worth reposting?

My MCE 2005 machine sometimes seems to hang on the "Preparing to Stand by..." screen.  Any ideas what might cause this?

I've just turned logging on, so hopefully I'll see something in the log the next time I have a problem...

    Great tool, BTW!!!
