Does anyone know if you can change the location that your tv shows are recorded?  Media Center automatically records shows to c:\documents and settings\all users\shared documents\recorded tv.  I would like to change the location that the media center records my shows.  Furthermore, I would like media center to look for my recordings in this new location as well.  This new location will be on a new, larger internal hard drive.

Can this be accomplished?

In Media Center, goto Settings -> TV -> recorder -> recorder storage..

Alternatively, I think TweakMCE and MCECustomizer can also change this..  If you are comfortable with registry changes, you can also set this directly there..

Note that if you change the Recorded File Location in TweakMCE, you also
need to add the new folder (whatever you made it to be) to the Watched List
folder, otherwise, MCE won't know to look in there for Recorded TV content.

I think Jason meant to say if you have old recording in the old location you need to add the old folder into the watch list to make sure you can see your old tv recordings as well as the new ones.

I have tweakmce and tried to change the default storage location to a mapped network drive (H:\Recorded TV) I also entered this in the watched folders as well. But when I go and restart mce the storage location shown is C and tweak shows the default storage location and not the one I entered.

Is a mapped drive not possible?

found the answer. works great!

I have tried this and it does not seem to work for me

I loaded up mce tweek and add my new network share

restart mce and it defaults back to the c: all users default path

I also tried editing the reg key in services etc and when i restart mce its changes back to the previous setting?

 

Any ideas
