The problem is solved, now I can use YouTubeMCE.

It's very nice in general but I'd like to see login feature.

Tha'ts only thing missing I guess.

When you say 'login' feature - what sort of features do you want to use that logging in gives you? Are you just looking for access to your YouTube-site favourites?

What's your definition of spam? YouTubeMCE is about letting users watch YouTube on media center PC, and the TVedia product is a media center PC software product with integrated feature to watch online video from YouTube. It's highly relevent to the topic in this thread. The mod is not killing a spam, it's censoring a post.

If this forum was about 'How can I watch YouTube from my Media Center PC', I'd agree with you. But if a NUMBER of forums about the release of YouTubeMCE have had the same post added.

Basically, if someone is advertising another or an unrelated product, it's spam- particularly if someone is getting paid to post this sort of message. Although in response to a deliberate question (eg. what do you use to play, is there anything else I can use), or as a NEW forum thread, I have no difficulty with it at all.

Login feature gives access to media which includes sexuality etc...

Btw, YouTubeMCE didn't work fine on my media center extender. I got the error that localhost:port is not reachable.

 

Hehe - you'll find a half-dozen people have mentioned that already, and as I've said - I may get around to it, but as I don't own a 360 or any other extender device, testing is rather difficult. Of course, if you feel like donating...

As to the logging in for adult content - as my license agreement states, you may find that some of the 'racier' content from YouTube is actually available WITHOUT logging in, as YouTubeMCE bypasses the regular age security checks that exist within the YouTube site.

I am having a problem with MCE 2005 and youtube mce, when installing bounceparse comes up but when i click next it goes away, I recive no prompts after that. When trying to launch it from within media center I get the loading spinner and it will not go away, backing out and going back in also does not fix this problem. I can open start.html in IE but all it is is a royale-esque background and there doesn't appear to be any sort of anything else, in the status bar it tells me its loading something from local host but it never seems to happen and i just end up getting a blank page..No prompts of any sort fro this point

I'm having a problem with YouTubeMCE as well.  I'm not sure if this is the appropriate placed to post this, so my apologies if i'm in the wrong place, push a button's website has many broken links for trying to get directly contact regarding this.

Anyway here is my problem: I get the following error when i click on the videos:

there is no data.php installed in the 0.6.3 beta 

Also: i've installed php5, and pear ? <not sure if i did that correctly>  is this necessary to get this running.

Pear and it's friends are NOT needed for YouTubeMCE. You've actually got yourself an odd little problem there.

'Data.php' is the file that stores all of your downloaded information, such as the page you are on, what you last searched for, and each of the individual movies that you see when browsing the YouTube site. It is NOT included with the installer, but it SHOULD be automatically generated by YouTubeMCE.

As a work-around, could you please go into your YouTubeMCE directory (c:\program files\push-a-button\YouTubeMCE), right-click anywhere in the folder, click 'New' and choose 'Text File'.

Then simply rename the file to 'Data.php'. It will be empty, but that should allow YouTubeMCE to work correctly.

In the mean time, could you please tell me where you got your copy of YouTubeMCE? Perhaps there is a dud installer out there on one of the mirrors...

I've got a few users with this problem and I'm trying to figure it out.

Could you please tell me if you are running your Media Center either...

   a) As an Administrator user,

   b) As a different user to the one you INSTALLED the product under (eg. you install using Administrator, but run it under a lower-security user)

   c) On a Media Center Extender

Based on your description of the problem, it seems that the ActiveX control YouTubeMCE uses to start the web-server has not been registered properly or is not working. It's the most common problem with BounceParse programs like this - I'll do my best to squish the bug.

Sorry for the slow reply.

Adding a blank Data.php got it one screen farther.

After clicking a video, now i get to the next screen, which i believe has 3 options "Full screen, add to favorites, <and back maybe?>.  If i let it sit for a while, i never see the video, or if i click fullscreen it seems to navigate into the fullscreen mode, but never displays the video.

I think i got it from the third link on your website,  (although i suspect this happened because i installed it as Administrator and run it as a simple user.)  I still have the binary if you would like me to mail it to you.

 

 

 

OK - now it looks like you simply don't have Flash installed.

As I've shown people earlier in this forum post, just visit YouTube with Internet Explorer on the Media Center computer. You will find that it asks you to install Flash. Please install it when it asks you to, and you should have YouTubeMCE up and running.

I'll try to include Flash in future installations.

Firstly, excellent idea, and thanks for making this plugin!
I'm having the same problem as bbjohnson, when I run it, I get a message saying: " Internet Connection Problem. Your internet connection does not seem to be responding. This plugin could not access the YouTube website." It appears on the right of the buttons.

I am not using a proxy, have turned off my firewall and antivirus, and can connect to the YouTube site through my browser, and other internet apps in MCE work fine. Have reinstalled it, after manually deleting the files in Program Files as well. Have tried rebooting and restarting MCE. Nothing has worked.
Any suggestions? I'd love to get this to work! Just hoping that the problem mysteriously disappears like it did with bbjohnson.

I'm getting the same error as rangers, it had been working fine up until this weekend..did youtube change the way it handles URLs at all?
