You might get better results if you didn't link to a private forum that requires registration.

I have no interest in giving a forum I don't know my name and email address so that they can potentially lose it or sell it to spammers.

Link to a public place and people will test your theme and give you feedback.

RE: VISTA mce Theme ported To MCE XP :D

Its true, if you go this website they will sell your information for 1 cent. They are making millions doing it. LOL

If your so scared to sign up at forums then how did you even register here? hmmmm. At one point you didnt know TGB right? From the looks of it you gave them everywhich way people can contact your. ICQ, EMAIL, MSN, SSN, HOME TEL#. Plus most people use free email services. I know i have an email account just for spam and registering at such sites.

Im not bashing you, but Im not going to let you scare potential users away cuz your so paranoid. I am the creator of that program. User registration is required to track who is downloading it, but if you would have done your homework before assuming somthing wasnt right you would have found that yes registrations is required, but you can enter a fake email, its instant registration so you dont need to wait for an e-mail confirmation.

Edited. I added the screenshot and added a download link for people who are afraid to register. I know once you download an lauch MyThemes. Users will have no problem registering, im sure of it.

Here is a link to the program. I will remove it when the next build comes out.

RE: VISTA mce Theme ported To MCE XP :D

The only place I've ever had any problems was from this site. I recevied a PM from a poor, poor, poor Nigerian student who wanted to launder money through my Bank Account. Guess what i'm saying is nowhere is really safe but a little  common sense goes a long way!

RE: VISTA mce Theme ported To MCE XP :D

I am not encouraging an off topic subject here.

Some of the reasons for web site registration are to discourage spammers, and to add security controls to discourage spamming and content security for preventing bandwidth problems, and scraping.

    BTW  nice theme!

RE: VISTA mce Theme ported To MCE XP :D

I can't download MyThemesMCE_V1.0_Beta_7.1_ENU.exe as my Norton AV detects Trojan.StartPage and deletes the exe.

RE: VISTA mce Theme ported To MCE XP :D

The file is not infected. MyThemes uses setup factory for the installer. If you google around, you will see why Norton triggers a virus alert. In setup factories package they name sumthing "ir.startpage". ther is a known trojan with similar info, so it pops the trigger. I will soon be zipping the downloads, this will not trigger the warning.

Re: RE: VISTA mce Theme ported To MCE XP :D

Why did I register here? because this community is well known, when I go I don't see a simple BBS software with almost no activity on it.

I appreciate the direct link, and I'll test the software since I like the idea.

But concerns about net safety should be in everyones mind, especially if they're offering a product for approval. If you're concerned about bots grazing, do a security checkpoint asking for one of those dumb number.gifs that requires manual entry to confirm.

But your lil website no matter how well intentioned is no TGB or Amazon that I would trust with my info.

Re: VISTA mce Theme ported To MCE XP :D

this looks interesting, however, does it give new functionality or does it simply change the layout and images a little?

can anyone who has installed this summarize any significant changes?

Re: VISTA mce Theme ported To MCE XP :D

I have had this Vista theme installed a day or so now and it looks very, very nice.  There is no new functionality whatsoever though as it is only a theme or visual style, whatever you want to call it.  I looks good enough for me to want to keep it as the default theme on my xBox 360 extender though, I'd recommend at least having a look.

Re: VISTA mce Theme ported To MCE XP :D

Ther is no major changes to MCE, however ther are many tweaks that just arent available with the default MCE theme. You have full access the mce animations, colors, sounds, fonts, strings, all images. Ther are also many gems that I found while poking around inside ehres.dll. I had to re-write some of the xmls for these tweaks. One example is being able to use a custom start logo image instead of the standard "start" text. I had to rewrite 3 xml files to get that to work. Rewriting the xml's is what allowed me to add full 360 support.

Give it a try. If you dont like it, the uninstaller will remove any modifications. Its safe and works will all languages.

New versions are available now. I just released updates to MyThemesStudio and MyThemesNV

Re: RE: VISTA mce Theme ported To MCE XP :D

    To dianebrat.

I should know that I can never please everyone and its impossible for me to try. If you dont want to try MyThemes because of how "small time" I am, then thats fine. If you want to bash my "lil" website, then thats fine too. Why would I get upset at the truth? I am a small time developer with a lil website! I am a poor person who has to use free programs to run my site. Im not ashamed of that. Im proud that I created a program that thousands are currently using. To me, that is a huge achievement!

I may have lost my temper when I posted my original response, but to me...you just told me that my new born baby was ugly and had lice. Like any parent, I wasnt going to let anyone talk bad about my kid.

Cm_mc came here and posted this topic, he was just trying to showcase his wondefull theme. Its the most popular MCE Theme download. He is getting major publicity because of this post! So is MyThemes. Did you also know MyThemes got a bad review because of what you said? Its amazing how MyThemes got a bad review because you had concerns registering to obtain it. One thing I learned about being in the entertainment biz for 15 years is that ther is no bad publicity.

I hope one day you do try MyThemes. You will like it. Im sure of it. So far only one bad review! LOL

I hope that one day my website will be a trusted website like TGB. That would be awesome.

Can we burry the hatchet? Give eachother olive branches? I hope so.

Thanks to everyone who has tried MyThemes thus far.  I also want to thank idbirch2 for trying MyThemes even after reading all the drama here. You posted some nice comments about MyThemes. I appreciate that. Im sure many new users gave MyThemes a try because of what you posted. I hope other will follow.

Re: RE: VISTA mce Theme ported To MCE XP :D

"I appreciate the direct link, and I'll test the software since I like the idea."

Was that comment not clear? I said that I appreciated the effort and thought you had a good idea.

This isn't topic drift, it had to do directly with how you posted the software, there's no hatchet to bury, just some learning all around about how best to get folks to test your software and make them comfortable with the safety of your products.

The registration process should indeed be part of the evaluation process, and while I'm sorry your product got a bad review somewhere because of it, my comments on having to register to download in my initial comment stand. If someone is making review on *OTHER* peoples comments, and not properly attributing the source, nor testing it themselves, then honestly, they're doing crappy reviews.

    Diane
