    Don't have the big picture

I have connected my VMC PC to my Mits 65 in CRT Rear Projection. I am using an Nvidia Geforce 8600 GT video card with the latest driver. I am having terrible problems with seeing the entire TV picture. I see only a portion of the video. I understand overscan and realize my TV uses overscan. I have corrected the desktop with the nvidia driver from 1920x1080 to 1708x922. This allows me to see the entire desktop and to be able to use the taskbar and open and close apps. Vista works fine. When I open media center and attempt to watch TV, MC shows only a portion of the actual picture. I have been through the MC TV setup innumerable times. I have tried every option, all the different possible resolutions and every type of monitor, TV, rear projection, flat panel there is. If I use a resolution of 1280x800 I see a bit more of the picture, but still miss a lot. I downloaded Tweak MC and adjusted the margins until I realized it only brings in the UI, not the actual picture. I even played in the registry.  I am going crazy watching the smiling people play pool. Can anyone help?

First thing (in case you have not) check if there is no way to run the TV in native (1:1) mode without overscan. this would keep the optimal quality.

If not have you checked the resolution in the registry there:

    HKCU/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current version/Media Center/settings/MCE.erusersettings

      • Set fullscreen height AND fullscreenlogicalheight to your vertical resolution value (922?)
      • Set fullscreen width AND fullscreenLogicalWidth to your horizontal value (1708?)

How did you set up the resolution in VMC?

If you go through the tv setup, it defaults to the desktop resolution which in your case should be 1708x922.  It should work.  As a test, you can scroll down the resolution list and pick an industry standardresolution,  480i, 720p, 1080i, etc.  What is sent to the TV should look and act exactly like a broadcast signal. In your case, it should look exactly like the TV's built in tuner which will have some overscan.

If feeding the TV a standard resolution doesnt work, I would suspect something in the TV rather than a problem with VMC.
