Moved recorded movies to new folder, no more info or cover art

I had a bunch of movies recorded and the info and cover art all showed up fine in the recorded tv folder, but due to disk space I copied some of the movies to another drive and then configured my movies library to point to the new location.

Now if I go to My Movies, I only see info and cover art for the movies that I kept in the recorded tv folder, and the ones I moved to the new movies library folder are all missing them.

That's supposed to work, right?  Or do I need to do something special to get it to pull the metadata out?

What format are your movies in?  Was the metadata added using the My Movies add-in?

I'd have to check the format when I get home, but it's whatever win 7's default recordings are.

All I did was hit record on a movie... when it was done it showed up fine in my recorded tv menu... then copied the file over to a new folder that is set up as my "my movies" library.  Otherwise, I didn't touch them in any way or manually add metadata.  Basically, the same file in recorded tv shows info, but when it's moved to the new dir, it doesn't.  I thought all that data was contained in the recorded file along with the video, but maybe I'm wrong and need to do something else?

I’ve seen this happen before using WHS to hold theTV recording and MCE2005 and Vista for play back, after time the artwork for the TV recording should reappear.

Recheck the TV recording see if the cover art is back.

Ok, I just checked and the info still doesn't show up.  They're .wtv's and the timestamp shows I copied them over on June 30th, so it's been about a week... I doubt they're going to show up on their own at this point.

    Some interesting things...
    - If I right click and go to the file properties of the movies in explorer, they show all the info including when I recorded it, what channel, movie info, etc.  So the info is there, media center is just not displaying it.
    - If I right click on the movies in explorer and go to "play with media center", then when it opens media center, it adds it to my movies library and shows the info... but then I have 2 links to the same movie in my movies library (one with info, one without).

Yeah, this exact scenario appears to be broken.  There are a few workarounds:

Add your movies folder as a Recorded TV folder to the library instead of a Movies folder.  Go to the recorded tv gallery and allow all of the files to load.  Open the movie library and you should see all of the movies with metadata and cover art.

    OR

Split all of your wtv's into separate folders under the movies folder you created and add a dvdid.xml file to each folder (can be gotten at http://www.dvdxml.com).

Thanks mikdav... I didn't even realize they added the capability to have recorded tv use multiple folders, I'm still used to the old way where it could only use 1 folder.

I'll take a look at dvdxml, but in the meantime having them all be recorded tv folders works for me, so I may just stick with that.
