Okay, I finally figured out the answer to my situation. The issue was that I bought a TV card that supported Over the Air HD (ATSC) and set it up with my media center pc. When setting up the TV options, I had selected only ATSC over the air as my provider. There was then no tv listings available to me in my region. So, here's how I worked around the issue:
- I placed my old non digital tuner back into the pc along with my new tuner.
- I ran Settings/Tv/Tv Signal/Setup TV Signal again using the manual setup option when prompted. I then FIRST setup the over the Air card (only) and was told no TV listings available in my region. Then when prompted to setup another source, I said yes and setup my old tuner and chose my local cable provider as the listing source. This downloaded the guide for all their channels.
- Next I went into Settings/Tv/Guide/Edit Channels and unchecked every channel that was not digital (the ones being used by my analog tuner).
- Then I went back through the channel list selecting (push ok) each digital channel. In the Edit Channel Settings page, I used the Edit Listings option and was able to "map" the listings from my cable provider to my digital stations by matching them up by network (fox, cbs, nbc, abc, etc).
And that's all there was to it. Now, you may not need a "dummy card" in the system, you may be able to setup additional sources but not assign them to any hardware. I did not try this.
Good luck.
