HDCP compatibility issue when playing Blu-Ray

I have a Blu-Ray player and running ArcSoft Total Media Theater...

When I try to play a Blu-Ray it starts to play it and then quickly stops and gives me a warning "Your system is no compatible with HDCP, Blu-Ray playback will be disabled."

    WTF???

I even downloaded some software/firmware update from ArcSoft, and still get these messages.

It'll be either your monitor does not support HDCP, your graphics card doesnt or maybe you need a driver update for the graphics card.

What Video card are you using?

How is your video card conneted to the TV

    VGA, S-Video, Component, DVI, HDMI?

If it is HDMI is there a reciever between your PC and TV?

There is a check tool to help determine if your system is able to playback Blu-Ray Movies.

This stuff is remarkably picky. I have the same software setup as you. You MUST have HDCP compatible videocard & monitor & you MUST be connected via HDMI. Even when you have this you must have your display set to 1920x1080.

Once you have all this set up it DOES work!

That's not entirely true.  You don't have to use HDMI, you can use DVI and your resolution doesn't have to be 1080i or 1080p it can be 720p also.  Also HDCP only matters for digital connections, so if you connect via VGA or component cables it won't matter if your tv/monitor or card are HDCP compliant.

As part of AACS content manufactures can enable ICT (image constraint token) to downsample analog (vga, component) connections but to my knowledge no one has started using ICT.

I heard the same thing from someone else (what a pain in the ass HDCP is... useless technology IMHO). I was scared maybe my display wasn't an HDCP compliant display.

    It's a 50" Panasonic Professional plasma

I wasn't sure if the professional grade ones supported HDCP, but hoping they would, and my display is only 720P (not 1080P).

It turned out that there was an update for my my Arcsoft version, but it apparently didn't download the update properly. I removed and re-installed the new version of the software and it seemed to work!

Good news! I'm currently watching 'National Treasure' on Blu-Ray on the big screen!

Oh, just to answer everyone's questions above:

HTPC with Nivida 8500G video card (def HDCP compliant) and Blu-Ray drive, hooked to a 50" Panasonic Professional Grade plasma, via current HDMI directly (not passing through anything).

THe audio is going out analog outs to a receiver. I'm currently in 2-channel setup, but a quite nice one. Going 5.1 in the next 2-3 weeks with recent acquisitions.

Everything is working now since I reinstalled my ArcSoft software with a new version. The update wasn't working. Fresh install seemed to fix it.
