Tuner confusion in Windows 7 MC

Last night I attempted to set up the analog tuner on my dual tuner Avertv Combo M780.  The clear QAM set up went ok the night before, but when I tried to set up the analog tuner, it found the tuner ok, but when I went to view live tv it said there was an error with the signal and it appeared that it could not differenciate between the two tuners.  Is this a known issue with dual tuner cards?

I think thats a combo/hybrid tuner not a dual tuner.

You are correct, a combo tuner.  It still should be able to view from both tuners in the same guide, same session, correct?  Also record from one while watching on the other.  At least that's what it's supposed to be capable of.

You'll need to read the documentation for that card to see if it is supposed to work the way you think it does.  It's been my experience that most cards like that are either or not both.

    Here's what's in the documentation:

"The AVerTV Combo PCI-E is a Worldwide Analog TV Tuner complete with an ATSC and Unencrypted “Clear” QAM capable TV Tuner, users can watch ATSC TV both Over–the-Air, or through a standard coaxial cable for Unencrypted Digital Cable content. In Windows Media Center users can watch and record two live programs simultaneously."

Re: Tuner confusion in Windows 7 MC

Ok, I think I got it figured out.  Last night I did another tuner setup in win7mc and it looks like it's all working now.  I did a manual set up and it did see both tuners.  It then goes into a channel scan, and found the usual 7 clear qam channels (even though I have 100 or so).  Right after the channel scan is complete it does get confused.  If I try to change the channel right after it goes into live tv for the first time it says that both devices are in use, and you cannot change the channel.  I shut it down and started back up and that seemed to be the trick.  I start at channel 2, on the analog tuner, and when I get to channel 8, it switches tuners to the clear qam tuner, automatically, and goes to 8.1, in HD.  Very smooth transition.  In fact, there's a little icon that shows down by the channel when it switches tuners to tell you it's switching.  Only real gripe is that channel changing is fairly slow, even on the analog tuner.  Most tv's, even older ones, change channels relatively quick on analog.  On the M780 analog tuner its pretty slow.
