     Jack -

Sadly I see this as an "epic fail" on ehome's part. If I was them I would be licensing the code to every CE company out there that has the ability to make an extender. Although for my family we always wanted an extender that had a built Blu-Ray player. Thats what it would take in my estimation.

    My VMC setup:
    (2) Xbox360s
    MC #1 Dell XPS410 (2.6Ghz C2D, 2GB Ram,Nvidia 8600GT, Blu-ray internal, (2) Vboxx DTA150s (OTA HD), (1) HVR-1150 (OTA HD) and (2) Cablecard Tuners

    MC #2 XPS420 (2.6 Ghz Quad Core) 4GB Ram, Nvidia 9800GT, Avermedia Duet, HVR-1150 and 1 DCT

Did anyone see the post on Engadget regarding the Toshiba set-top.  I keep hoping this will come to fruition.

I  may be mistaken since I have little insight into the consumer electronics world, but I think that is Toshibas own media streaming device such as the WDLive or Popcorn Hour.  I doubt they will incorporate MC into the device.  If they did I think Engadget would have said a little more about it...personally I hope I am wrong.

The writing is on the walls... sadly I think its all but done. Ehome needs to come out with a V3 extender.

I think given the number of people that have been burned buying V1 and V2 extenders, it will be hard for a V3 extender to gain traction unless it was really something spectacular.  I think MS should just put out an XBox MC without gaming capabilities so that it is quieter and uses less power. I've got 2 XBoxes that I use only as extenders and have never used for gaming, they would great if they were quiet and could be left on all the time (less power usage) so I wouldn't have to wait for bootup.

I'd happily replace all my Linksys V2 extenders with a cheaper, quieter extender-only XBox.

I guess this isn't likely and may not make financial sense for MS since I've always heard they sell XBoxs at a loss to make money on the games, so not being subsidized by games may make a non-gaming XBox too expensive.
