Any way to get extended forcast icons on the main MC screen, like Vista Extended 4Cast does?

I'll add this to the list of things to do in future. I had been reluctant to tread on that developer's turf in the past, however I think he's got enough lead now since I've been absent that it'll make little difference.

I'm running 32-bit Windows 7 Ultimate RTM. I'll try it on my other 3 machines and report later. Thanks for updating Heatwave

Thanks for letting me know how you went, and I look forward to hearing about your experiences with the other machines.

No error messages, just spinning ring and background is animated

Thanks for updating me, and I'm looking in to it. I have a couple of ideas, however can't replicate the issue. Would you mind if I might ask you to test a couple of builds?

    bagge:
same problem here, just spinning ring and background is animated.

    As above.

I also have the "spinning ring"... Sad
I'm running a swedish W7. Is it possible there is an issue with localization?

Jcuesico, Zaxxx, Bagge, are you on an english OS?

Works for me on 64bit.  Thanks for the update.

The only feedback I have is that the forecast temps are backwards.  It should be high-low rather than low-high, since the low temp for a particular day is actually the low temp for the following day.

    Hi James,

I've installed Heatwave 1.2 on all my 32-bit Windows 7 Machines, including my laptop, 5 machines total. I can verify that they are all functional. However, I did notice that I could get it to crash when I try to move a city past the first or last position when I go into edit locations.

Another feature suggestion is using the OEMlogo location on the start page to show a quick weather forecast.

Thanks again James for updating Heatwave.

    Thanks for the feedback, guys.

What are the chances that one or more of you could use the Microsoft Debug View tool to let me know if any errors appear in the trace...? I know it's a big ask, however I still can't replicate the problem. While I haven't installed a foreign language version of Windows 7, I have installed and changed the default language and everything still worked fine for me.

    Thanks,

    James.

If you could get a link to a live local radar map, ala Weather in GBPVR, that would put you ahead of the game!

For some reason the Windows Service (named "Media Center Support Service") that supports these functions is unable to start on your system. Unfortunately a few people have had this problem, and I've yet to really understand what is causing it.

I'm looking in to alternative ways of providing the same functionality.

Thanks so much for this! It would never have occurred to me that this would be the problem, so without your help it may never have been fixed!

I'll get a new version together as soon as possible and let you know.

Once again, I really, really appreciate this.

Thanks to zaxxxx I've created a version that may resolve the "spinning ring" issue some people were having:

    Download the 32-bit version here.
    Download the 64-bit version here.

This version, while not intended as an actual 'release' version, also includes the following features that people have requested and may want to test:

    • A widescreen layout is now included. If you don't like it, it can be disabled in Settings on the Appearance page.
    • There is a day/night (sun/moon) forecast indication next to the location title. If you don't like it, it can be disabled in Settings on the Appearance page.
    • The layout of the main page has been tightened up a bit (the data refresh times have been lost in this version, however will return in a later version)
    • The various times will now be formatted according to the system time format
    • The temperature ranges are now presented in high-low order. You can flip them back to the way they were in Settings on the General page.
    • Changed the formatting of temperature ranges to make negative temperatures more legible

As usual, please let me know how you go.

    Cheers,

    James.
