    Back to desktop glitch.

    Hi:

Basic system O/S: Windows Vista Home Premium SP1
TUNER: Hauppauge WinTV-PVR USB2 (MCE kit)
VIDEO CARD: ATI Radeon X1800XT 512MB PCI-E Dual DVI HDTV-OUT
(S-video OUT to 36” Sony Wega XBR-400 NTSC HD ready TV).
SOUND CARD: Turtle Beach Montego DDL 7.1 (C-Media CMI8768/PCI-8ch+ chipset)      (S/PDIF optical OUT to Denon AVR-3802 7x110W based HT System) MOTHERBOARD: Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe nForce4 SLI X16 CPU: Athlon 64 X2 4800+ Dual Core S939 Toledo
    RAM: 2GB (Corsair XMS-3500LL PRO 2GB kit) PC3500 CL2/1T
    HDD: 2 x 500GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 500GB SATA 3Gb/s 7200RPM 16MB

Latest Vista drivers/software for all gear (including tuner) installed.

ATI Catalyst Center Display Manager reports desktop at: 1024 x 768 32 bit 30Hz* *This must be a bug. It should report 60Hz. Tried 800 x 600 32bit and it also said 30Hz. No option to change it to 60Hz.
Appears to be 60Hz but reported incorrectly.

When in Vista I use the hand held remote (from the tuner MCE kit) to access Vista’s Media Center. All works ok but when I shut down Media Center to return to the Vista desktop, the desktop is over-scanned enough to be unusable. The leftmost icons are off the desktop as is the task bar. I have to hit the Win key to reboot to a normal Vista desktop.
This glitch didn’t happen in MCE 2005.
Is there a setting somewhere I can change to return to the desktop as it was before I entered Vista’s Media Center? If so, whai is the path?

    Thanks in advance,

    Fleabus

    Re: Back to desktop glitch.

SInce your refresh rate is messed up, it seems like you may have a corrupt graphics device driver. I would uninstall the current one, and try a different one.....maybe from Guru3d.
