Linksys Extenders $100 Off at Amazon.com

I noticed today that the two Linksys Extenders (DMA2100 and 2200) have a "Special Offer" available for them at Amazon.  This special offer is in the form of a $100 discount when using the code "MSFTDEAL" at checkout.  This makes the extenders $150 and $200, respectively.

I was bummed when I didn't order in time to get the $20 discount of a few weeks back, but am definitely glad I waited.  I ordered the DMA2100 today.

it seems that the discount is only per order and not per extender, probably wont work even if you tried to submit multiple orders with the same account.

Problem is, the 360 is still a better deal.  Another $50 might do it though.

    define "better".

i seriously considered a 360 for the bedroom instead of a DMA2200 when pricing was announced, but in the end the v2 extenders are silent, have native support for various mpeg4 formats inside the UI, and integrated wireless-n (even though i dont use it).  plus if i am going to buy a 360 it is going to be in the living room hooked up to the big screen and surround sound, not in the bedroom.

one thing i can say about the 360 is that i like how fluid the media center UI is compared to a v2 extender.  but lacking support for mpeg4 videos in the UI and the noise level means that the WAF drops to an unacceptable level.

Agreed.  For me, silence and small form factor are key, as this will be going in my bedroom.  I don't think these extenders are worth $250, but are personally worth between $150-200, so I felt like I stumbled across a bargain.  I know these V2 extenders aren't for everybody, but I think is by far the lowest price we've seen so far.

Seems like a hot deal to me. The lowest price I see from a reliable source is $260 at ewiz. I grabbed a DMA2200 for a 2nd room.

    Thanks for the tip Mike!

Thanks for posting this awesome deal! I was just about to pull the trigger on a second 360 for the bedroom but this will work just fine and cost me $130 less! I went ahead and signed up for the Amazon Prime free trial so I could get overnight shipping for $3.99.

Excellent catch on this deal.  Went ahead and picked one up for the bedroom, where the 360 is just a tad loud.  Now I can use this, sell the Arcade for $200, and make $50 in the process.  I don't mind the less striking fluid interface with the V2 extender since it's only being hooked up to the 26" LCD TV upstairs.

What I wonder, is the overscan issue from the 360 an issue on these V2 extenders as well?

You know I saw that offer yesterday and thought it meant on 2 extenders, so I ordered a refurbed one yesterday from Amazon.com.

Now I went today and actually tried the code on one, and bam it worked! So I called Amazon and cancelled yesterday's and bumped up to 2 day delivery.

Thanks Amazon, that made that extender the exact price I was willing to pay for it.

If you bought an extender from Amazon within the past 30 days they do price match, so try calling them if you did.

Wow!  Thanks for posting this.  I had no plans on buying another extender, but for that price I really felt it was worth it, great deal!

For those taking advantage of this offer please reply to this thread.  I'm interested to see how the price is impact your purcahse.  In my opinion $150 is the perfect price for a standalone Extender, how many taking advantage of this wouldn't have at their regular price?

Re: Linksys Extenders $100 Off at Amazon.com

I definitely would NOT have purchased it at $250. I was actually going to buy another 360 very soon because I could not justify not spending another $30 to have a game system in my bedroom in addition to the extender portion. With the 360 at $280, it just doesn't make sense to me to purchase something that only does the extender portion for $250 unless you are REALLY concerned about noise (which I'm not).
