I’ve been using the MediaControl 4.0.x software fine for a while with the SRM7500. I found it worked best to select Media Player as the default player.

Anyone noticed when the Philips software is installed for the remote it takes a real long time for resuming from standby?

When I wake my PC in the afternoon for the first time it takes 88 seconds to wake up. When I put in standby and wake it up again within the minute it resumes fast like it should. It seems the longer the PC is in standby the longer it takes to resume.

When I remove the software and dongle the PC wakes up within 10 seconds. I have several PC's and the one with the Philips remote software is the only one with this long resume problem. I have emailed Philips several times when they will release better software but they can't say and all I get is they are working on better software but I have my doubts.

Perhaps it will work better with Windows 7. Anyone tested it with Windows 7?

I've been using for the last 3 days on windows 7 with the latest drivers(august 2008) with no problems so far, but its early days. If my experiences with vista are anything to go by it will start crashing soon. I think the side show features run more smoothly than they did on Vista, but it stiil seems to take longer to startup, wakeup etc when dongle is plugged in.... i will update in a few weeks if thats of any help.

This seems to work a treat with windows 7, not a single problem with connections or errors, and music button works almost immediately on wake up, and thats with 700+ albums , Vista always seemed to take forever, if it worked at all (still takes a while to load on reboot but thats ok with me as I rarely reboot). I wont be going back to Vista.

I've been using the remote with latest media portal version on Win 7 for a week with zero issues as well.

I can't get the sw to install in win 7. which version areyou using? 4.0.12.0? anything specific I have to do to get it working?

I'm using 4.0.12.0, i ran the installer as adminstrator, you shouldnt have to though. Also i was using 32 bit version of windows 7. I have just been trying it with 64 bit version and its not working, keeps crashing the pc.

Mine has been working fine on Windows 7 x86 since RC1 for the remote control function. The only problem is with the music where I can only specify the target media player as Media Center, but not Media Player. I found in Vista specifying Media Player was much faster and more reliable. I am having similar issues in Windows 7 as I did in Vista- where sometimes it would take a while to connect or constantly saying please wait. My guess is that the software doesn’t recognize Media Player 12 as being installed.

I'm using the final Windows 7 64bit from msdn and this stupid program fails to find any of the mentioned programs. Also the remote fails to connect. Is there anyway to use this as a standard input device with media center hotkeys?

 I am trying to avoid the latest version of Media Control as I had more stability with the older version in Vista 32bit. Installed last night the old version of Media Control on Windows 7 64bit. At first the software failed to install. Windows 7 notified of compatibility issues and suggested a fix (to ignore version or something the like). After that I succesfuly reinstalled and the remote connected to the pc and works fine. Its been less than a day so I'll report any stability concerns.

Thanks for testing this out and reporting back. I actually installed 32 bit Windows 7 RC1 specifically to avoid any potential issues with Media Control, but I am glad to hear it works on 64 bit.

I had been running the latest version of the software fine on Vista 32 bit and now on Windows 7 RC1 32 bit. I hope they update the software to be compatible with Media Player 12, but the Media Center connection works ok. Once I get through my DRMed recordings, I plan on installing 64 bit Windows 7 with the latest Media Control software and I will report results.

 Full disclosure, I am using it for Media Center purposes only and never used the sideshow features. I'll try to test it and will report back. 

I installed Windows 7 x64 with the latest MediaControl drivers (v4.0.12) and everything works fine, both remote control and SideShow. It doesn’t recognize Media Player so instead I had to choose Media Center.

 Well tried to install it in win 7. the install part worked, but the connection with the remote can't be made.... any ideas? I tried both the 3 and the 4 version of the SW.

Any word from philips?
