I wonder if this option was only available for US participants - I've checked several times since this message was originally posted, and can't find anything with the word media in it :-(

I checked it two days ago when it first appeared in sombeody's blog and I couldn't see it in the program list either that day or today. It is odd that some people can see it and some people can't.

    slig:

this is exacly what this is:

"Microsoft is in the midst of a quest for new testers for some kind of new Windows Media Center product, which may or may not be connected to “Fiji,” the next version of Windows Media Center Edition (MCE).

Late last week, Microsoft posted to its Connect private beta-tester site a “Windows Media Center Tester Application” survey, sources said. Microsoft is seeking a pool of testers for some new client-based product and is closing the tester application process this Friday, February 1, sources said.

One tester said he believes the survey is for Fiji, known these days as “MCE+1.” Microsoft officials would not confirm whether the survey is aimed at lining up Fiji testers.

    Source: Mary Jo Foley's Blog"

Mary Jo is either blind or just not "in the loop" these days.. Either that or Microsoft's left hand does not know what the right had is doing. Here is the text of an e-mail that I go on Jan 9th ...

    Dear Applicant,

We would like to take this time to remind you that Windows Media Center is accepting applications for new beta testers. To apply, please complete the Windows Media Center Tester Applicant Hardware Survey, located at http://connect.microsoft.com. Please disregard this message, if you have already completed this survey or if you are already a Windows Media Center beta tester.

Where do I go to complete the application?

The application survey is located here: https://connect.microsoft.com/Survey/Survey.aspx?SurveyID=5300&SiteID=23 (please cut and paste this URL if this link does not work) How long will the application be available?

The application will no longer be available after Wednesday, January 16th.

The survey was available all the way back in December (perhaps even earlier) and not "Late last week" as Mary Jo wrote. And it seems that the "expiration date" keeps getting extended.

Just wanted to mention that I received my round 2 survey this evening.

It's basically asking for detailed info on my system along with PC configuration, hdtv capabilities, tv tuner cards, tv service provider (UK-related providers were listed as well.) Just seemed like they wanted to get the finer details of our set ups.

    Interesting,…..

Perhaps they are considering implementation of QAM support,…..

OK, maybe that’s wishful thinking but one can dream ;)

I have not heard anything more since my round 2 email, hopefuly soon we may start getting word if others have been acepted.
I have not had much to do with beta testing, so does anyone know if there is a general time frame after applications close that they get the testing started?
    Always willing to help.

Well, feel lucky that you got a second email. At least I still have some hope since someone got theirs on the 26th. I'd say you might still have some time to wait if they're still sending out emails for the second stage. At least it seems like they're going faster than the last time.

Re: Windows Media Center Tester Application (Connect)

Just wish something would come soon, I did get an e-mail about 2 weeks ago about the hardware survey and I am listed active for the Media Center Beta, but, for the old test application (says the same thing, it still says pending).

It's been almost a year from when Jessica posted about a beta test. I just hope they used that extra time to add a ton of new features everyone has been dreaming for....

Connect website now shows that applicant survey are closed, and that they are now considering who they would like to participate in their testing... we may hear something soon...

Anyone else get an email from Connect this evening? Devil [6]

If I did I would not be posting about it here on a Public forum....Great way to see your status change forever.
