Vista Home Premium for $50 - promotion

Microsoft also plans a promotion that will let buyers of Vista Ultimate get $50 copies of Home Premium for two other PCs.

Bill Mannion, director of consumer marketing for Windows, called these three steps part of an overall effort "to give more flexibility to end users."

Matt Rosoff, an analyst with Directions on Microsoft, said the company likely was hoping to increase the incentives for consumers to buy costlier versions of Vista. Indeed, much of the marketing surrounding Vista will highlight features available only in higher-end versions, such as the new three-dimensional user interface and encryption functions.

IMO, a great incentive for purchasing the Ultimate edition. :^)

Are you reading this statement as I am?

"Microsoft also plans a promotion that will let buyers of Vista Ultimate get $50 copies of Home Premium for two other PCs."

Once you purchase Vista Ultimate, you get licensed for 2 PC's for only $50? Or are they saying you can buy two more Licenses for $50 each?

I am guessing that it means you can get 2 copies of Home Premium at $50/each.   Hopefully, I can find some better details of the promotion.  If it is 2 copies at $50/each, that seems like a really good deal.

I may have missed this somewhere but does this qualify for the upgrade version of Vista Ultimate or do you have to pay $399.99 for the full version?

Just to let all the beta testers that recieved a free copy of Vista Ultimate for reporting a bug, your key that you recieved for that will work for this offer. I just ordered my 2 key for home premium minutes ago. That makes 3 legal copies of vista for one low price of just $100. Beta testing is great. Happy shopping all.

Oh and to add they are Upgrade Keys.

    no!!!  upgrade keys=bad...

if the stories from across the world are accurate where vista came out first (time zones)..   then you can't clean install with an upgrade version.

Re: Vista Home Premium for $50 - promotion

Ok, so I went to Best Buy today and purchased the Windows Vista Ultimate Upgrade with the intent of taking advantage of this offer and all I get when I input my information is "No Offer Found." Has anyone else had this problem? I purchased teh Signature Edition but that shouldn't make a difference, right?

Input it again.  Mine rejected the first time with the same thing, second time it worked perfect.

I've tried it around 15 times and even tried a couple different times on a different machine.
