Yes, that is the patch for the 64 bit version.  Several people confirmed that this works.  And I now join that group as well.  Thanks guys.  This is the one feature that I just can't belive MS turns off.

Re: Vista Remote Desktop - possible to enable more than one user?

    yman:
I have found the site http://wikihost.org/wikis/mediacenter/wiki/start The guy who runs the site is basically trying to emulate an MCX host computer so his Xbox 360's MCX can connect to Linux/Myth etc. He documents the handshakes which the MCX and the MCE must do before the MCE will allow the MCX to connect. He hasn't discovered the video streaming method yet, however he's found the majority of informaton which is required for an MCX to advertise its presence and successfully handshake with the MCE.

I believe we can work off this documentation to successfully emulate a real working software MCX, aka SoftSled. Anyone interested? Let's face it. Microsoft won't release SoftSled anytime soon. They might release it on the next update of Media Center (late this, I believe), however I seriously doubt it.

The first thing we need to do is to get the MCX to advertise its self to Media Center. This is done through UPnP. I've downloaded the Intel UPnP SDK for Microsoft.NET, and will start trying trying to implement an app to successfully advertise its self to Media Center as an MCX (A balloon notification  appears in Vista, correct? Saying that  an MCX is available). Mikinho, would you mind revealing the APIs and the stuff you used?

I'll check out the wiki later today and add to it.  I'll also create a new thread for my Nintendo DS app later, imho it is a better MCE remote than any I've used.

    Do you Yammm?

I have a lot of HTPC related software "in-the-works". Some may never be completed, others will probably only be useful to a few...

    Let me get this straight.

You post here that you have acheived something NO one has been able to.

    You ask for beta testers.

    You go on vacation.

All code is stolen, and you are not sure you will pick it up again.

Dude, this thread has been picked up on EVERY MCE site I know of.

If you really did it, please recreate your work or at the very least post what you did so others can work on this.

This may just be me talking, but I wouldn't think taking this kind of attitude with mikinho is the best course to take if we want him to continue to work on this, or at least post his findings. And if you had read his post just before yours, you would see that he was going to add his work to the wiki previously mentioned, for someone to utilize.

i worked it because i enjoy programming and it was an interesting project.  i have two jobs so any work i do on it is in my limited free time.  like i already mentioned in my other post, i'll check out the wiki later and add to it.  the only real tricky part of the code was the authorization\handshake.  if you aren't familar with it download the capi sdk and i would recommend using vc++.net for your development.

Just before anyone gets their hopes up, I won't be able to dedicate myself since I'm leading  up to sit my GCSEs (revision you know). I'll try and work on it when I have a moment and will obviously contribute freely if/when I get something working. I was in an excited mood and shouldn't have boldly assumed I would have the time to complete something like this :( Sorry for getting anyone's hopes up.

CooperD, thanks for your offer but it would have been a one way contribution until I finish my exams.

Mikinho thanks for agreeing to contribute your stuff. Will help the community :)

Re: Vista Remote Desktop - possible to enable more than one user?

Well it looks like he got RDP on Vista Premium working.  I really wonder how NoImp is figuring this stuff out.  We need this guy to look at softsled.

Vista Premium’s remote desktop can be enabled by adding one more byte to the patch:

    Comparing files termsrv_patched.dll and TERMSRV_RTM.DLL
    000150D8: BA 3B
    000150D9: 00 91
    000150DA: 01 20
    000150DB: 00 03
    000150DD: 90 00
    000150DF: 89 0F
    000150E0: 91 84
    000150E1: 20 0C
    000150E2: 03 CA
    000154BF: 90 43
    0004943C: EB 74

There are also missing many registry entries so these should be added. Here is .reg file for import:
