    That is correct.  OTA or via Firewire from a set-top box are your only options currently.

    Look for this to potentially change with the release of Vista and its support for Cablecard technology.
    * Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 in an Intel DG965WH motherboard with built-in dolby digital live audio output via SPDIF
    * Nvidia 8600-based video card.
    * VBox Cat's Eye 150 ATSC tuner
    * Hauppauge WinTV 350 analog tuner.

    My new Westinghouse 32" lcd hdtv gets a few hd channels with no box, direct cable connection to it. Is there a tv tuner card that can do the same thing?

    Depends. Most Westinghouse HDTV's support unencrypted QAM tuning, which Media Center doesn't (and can't).

    It's ATSC Tuner is "QAM Capable" so it can tune Unencrypted Digital Cable.  There are a couple of ATSC (HDTV) tuners that can tune QAM just like your TV, but only with the software provided with the tuner by the card maker.  The DViCO FusionHDTV5 Gold series tuners will tune QAM as will the MyHD 130 tuner.  But they work with their own software only when tuning QAM.  MCE 2005 doesn't support QAM tuning at all (as stated above)...
    MS Vista Ult x64 * Mitsubishi HC5500 1080p projector * Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H mATX MB w/HD3200 IGP * AMD Phenom 9550 * 4GB RAM * 300GB + 500GB SATA * LG GGC-H20L BD + DVD/RW * PVR-150 NTSC * DVICO FusionHDTV3-T Gold + HDTV5 Gold USB ATSC tuners
