That fixed the problem.  On a different note if I compress the dvrms files to WMV with DVRMSToolbox would the metadata (TV show data ie. show descriptions) show up in MyTV or More TV third party plugins?  I find quality of the metadata from TVDB.com lacking.

First of all thank you for a very nice piece of software - great work Andrew!

I would really recommend that you create a website with the essential details on it, it's a hell working through this thread that's more than 30 pages long - I'm afraid it might scare some people away. A site with screenshots, tips, known issues, changelog etc. would make it easier to get started with the software. Maybe a wiki would do the job, so you wouldn't have to do all the updating yourself.
Perhaps even a dedicated forum (either a seperate one or a section here at the site), so that threads would be easier to overview instead of one endless long one.

I'm also having trouble with the syntax error in the date (Danish language/time), would be nice with a permanent workaround :)

when i go into the episodes the thumbnails are not displayed just a blue box any ideas?

its ok in VMC and explorer they are AVI's

Also sorry if this as been mentioned but is it possible to tag the episodes you have watched like say in the MYmovies plugin?

Is there anyway episode number information can be shown from the xml data for each file? This way if the ordering of episodes for whatever reason goes wrong at least it will be obvious. Also it just seems a little odd not to have it there somewhere...

i whole-heartedly second that request - i think its a great app but it woudl be very helpful to incorporate episode numbers.

I completely agree --especially when you use dvd cover (?) and the episodes are listed top to bottom then left to right.

I could have TVCollection Manager add the episode number to the title if that is what you guys are want. 

I could make it an option to include the episode number or other data with a formated string like the following:  (%episodeno%) %epidsodetitle% or %episodetitle% - %episodeno%.  I would define a list of variables that you could include and the user would format the title string anyway they wanted.

Let me know if anyone would be interested.

I have to third that request, Episode numbers would be fantastic, as would a number of other things taken from the XML files (like year released, so you can sort that way, or even just date added so you know whats new).  Ben, if we can't get a response from Andy, or even if we can, if it's not that much effort, I can guarantee I'll be using the feature.

On a side note, I've found a bug.  Top Gear is up to season 10, and that's the first cover I see, because it appears to not be counting both digits.  I'm sure trhis would happen with others, but I only have season 10 for Top Gear, nothing else is up to  it yet.

EDIT: Ben, I think the best way to have the ep numbers added would be "01. Pilot", just seems neat would be a good option if we can take it ;)

re: bug - I'd imagine it's ordering alphanumerically (as a dictionary does).

As such, "1 Richard Hammond Crashes Something.avi" comes after

"10 Richard Hammond Crashes Somethingelse.avi"

as "0" is considered less than " ".

you might be able to work around this by renumbering the first 9 eposiodes to "01 - xxxx" , "02 xxxx" through "09 xxxx" etc - - - thus all the "0*" will be at the top, followed by "1*" etc etc.

That, or Andy could change the code to sort numerically, rather than alphanumerically (perhaps as an option)?

I can understand why alphanumeric would be used as a sensible default - it only goes wrong if you have titles starting with a mixture of single digit and double digit numbers - - - my "fix" above makes everything double digit, and would (should) sort it out).

I understand fully, the only thing is, it's my season folder.  I number all my EPs properly I was just hoping to not have to rename each and every one of my season folders to be Season 01, et al.  Ahhwell, I guess it wouldn't make sense to have it work any other way, so I'll be changing them, just a li'l uglier having all my Season folders having to be double digit now.

has a request been made to keep track of watched items?
if it has, then I second the first post, if it hasn't then I would like it to be added to a list of things to do.

how to keep track? maybe a new feild in the episode xml called <watched>.
or maybe a new xml for the whole season, so the watched feild status doesn't get lost when tv collector updates the files.
that way we can just press play on the season screen to continue a season where we left it off.

is there a playlist function yet too? this can be part of that upgrade, if it works together.

Go to Start --> Run, then type notepad. Click OK. Paste the following text into the Notepad window:

Close Notepad, then find the tvlibrary.reg you created. Double-click it to install the registry entry.

Go to Start --> Run, then type regedit. Hit Ctrl + F to initiate a Find, and look for "Digital Living Solutions." The end result will look like this:

Double-click the LibraryFolders entry and type in the folder locations of your media, for example, \\mediaserver or H:\poop. Click OK.

STEP FOUR - CREATE METADATA

In order to get your media's metadata to appear, for each video file there needs to be a corresponding separate XML file of the same name. This XML file is read by the application and the text within is displayed in the interface. So, for example, if you have the file

C:\Show\Season 1\ShowTitle.s01e01.avi

...you will also need:

C:\Show\Season 1\ShowTitle.s01e01.xml

...and the XML will have show-specific information about the file.

To create an XML file, start by copying the text below under "basic metadata" into Notepad and saving it as an XML file. The text between the tags is what will appear within the VMC interface. Note that a list of additional tags/metadata are listed below. Also, the application "TV Collection Manager" can be used for auto-generating these XML files. Note that if you've made changes to your XML file, you may need to get Windows to "show hidden files and folders" and delete the folder called "cache" in your video directory, then re-open More TV.
