So does Microsoft use the zap2it listings?  They (Zap2it) has the incorrect listings for one of my digital channels on the digital cable listings.  I'm going to email Zap2it and have them change it if it will help.

Has anyone gotten these listings to work in the L.A. area?  I haven't been able to find a digital cable provider that has the listings for the PBS subchannels.

keep in mind the pbs subchannels might be some other channel they already had.. for instance my area, its 1 primary HD channel, 1 digital sd channel, pbskids and I forget the 4th they carry, but it was a variation of pbskids..   so while your cable company may not have CHANNEL-2DT it probably has the real name like PBSKIDS.

The best one I could find was the Verizon FIOS listing (CA65194X).  It has the KCET-DT, KOCE-DT 1-2 and KLCS-DT 1-3.  I must have run through 20 different listings.  It's amazing how much variation there is from one city to the next!  I figured all the Time Warner Digital listings in Orange County would be the same, but they were all over the place.  Thanks for the great hack, accident.

I live in Marina del Rey and actually use the guide listing for Cox cable out of Irvine.  No Los Angeles listing had the HD listing for KOCE which I wanted.   And now that KCET-DT airs the exact same thing as their analong counterpart, I didn't need a different listing for them anymore.  The Cox listing has the guide info for alot of what you want which the exception of maybe the KLCS which I don't watch regulary and wasn't a big deal to me.

So I tried this hack (finally) but it didn't work.  After I changed the info in the registry, I restarted windows and then tried to download the new guide.  It then told me that the information for the guide no longer existed and it needed to restart.  Any ideas?  Here is the exact message:

"The guide listings you have selected are no longer available.  Select Set Up to configure the guide"

    Thanks.

What did you use?   did you try a nearby town/zipcode?

Yes, I used the Boise, Idaho digital cable, which is where my locals are from.  The ID code I got was "ID65065X" in both the registry areas.  My zip code is 83655.  Did I do something wrong?  Thanks.

It sounds correct..  try other nearby towns, even different zipcodes for boise..   you have to remember that usually those locals travel far..  so you don' thave to use the provider in the town they are..  its also not uncommon for those channels to not actually transmit from those towns.

Okay, I tried another zipcode in Boise and it still didn't work.  It gave me a different ID for zap2it though.  I used that instead, but it still didn't work.  Any other thoughts?  Thanks.

Your going to have to keep trying until you find something that does work.  Some things take more time than others.   that "hack" took me almost 20 hours to come up with a set order to do things and how to make it work.

    accident:
so for example if wxxx-dt2 (pretend pbs channel) is the antenna feed of PBSKIDS, when you make the missing channel you call it PBSKIDS and not wxxx-dt2.

    accident:
2/28/07: YOU MIGHT NEED TO DO STEPS 6 and 7 again.  It appears when the analog provider you choose has a lineup change all maping from step 7 are lost.  however it also appears if you create your subchannels and missing channels using the exact call letters MCE uses for that listing then it will stay associated.   you may need to setup temporarily, figure out teh listings then delete all the added channels and recreate them with the correct call letters of the epg data source.  (confused?  post and i'll try to explain it better)

    Yeah, I'm confused...

Where do I look to find the name I should use for the channel?

In my case, I have channel 3.2.  3.2 is my local CW station (WWMTDT2 in Zap2it).  However, 3.1 is my local CBS (WWMTDT in Zap2it).  To reduce confusion, I renamed 3.2 to "CW7", and lost its guide data a couple days later.

What should I have named the subchannel?  WWMTDT2?  WWMT-DT2?

Re: ATSC Only hack: PBS-HD and Subchannel guides (5728+)

you call it the analog station name, which is the call letters that the guide data comes from.  Its probably WWMT in your example.

Re: ATSC Only hack: PBS-HD and Subchannel guides (5728+)

this and it didn't work out for me for some reason. I want to get the correct guide listings for 18.2, the pbs-HD channel. The Analog 18 is pbs, and 18.1 is the digital equivalent. There's also an 18.3 which i'd like to get the correct guide for it too, but i dont care for it. with vista, i think i noticed that it called 18.2 kvpt-dt2, which is correct, but the guide listings are wrong. the same data appears for 18, 18.1, 18.2, 18.3. Should i have renamed 18.2, kvpt-dt2 to simply kvpt? i thought it didnt matter, i'll try again soon and will report back. I'd really like to get this to work

    edit:
so this is the url http://tvlistings.zap2it.com/tvlistings/ZCGrid.do?method=decideFwdForLineup&lineupId=CA04818:X&zipcode=93212&setMyPreference=false
I use CA04818X for the ID correct?
    and steps 6 & 7 are a little confusing...
