Do you have the movie (that shrink created for you) in a VIDEO_TS folder?
MyMovies will only see the movie if you are pointing to the VIDEO_TS folder, if you are just pointing at the main folder (ex: C:\Shrink\King Kong) then it will error out on you.
If you point to the video_ts folder like this: C:\shrink\king kong\video_ts then it will work.
All of the vob's and video_ts.ifo files have to be in the video_ts folder for it to work properly.
I had over 100 movies ripped and stored that I had to go back and create the VIDEO_TS folders for and place all of the files for each movie in its own VIDEO_TS folder, after that adding was seamless and worked bitchen.
Make sure you type the name of the movie onto the imdb.com box at the top of the manage collection gui then have it search because it will pull down all the cover art and actors bios and pictures for you and store them.
After you get your collection ripped and stored where you want it and after you have added all the movies to the MyMovies database, back up the whole MyMovies folder to a cd or thumb drive or something.
You really only need to backup the mymovies.mdb file and the covers and photos folders in the MyMovies directory but its easier to just back up the whole folder.
