Re: vmcNetFlix Beta 1.1.1 w/ Vista Extender Support (7/16/2008)
I have Vista Home Premium x64 and have the exact same problem. Works great in IE7, MCE but not on the extender. Oddly enough it did work with vmcNetFlix_Beta_1_0_28R2_x64 but after Netflix changed their pages that cease to function.
Near as I can tell something was introduced into the code base between vmcNetFlix_Beta_1_0_28R2_x64 and the current version. Since I can't puruse the code base and the log files show no errors I am stuck as to trying to pin point the error. Great app and when it worked for the one day I tried it I was impressed...

1.1.3R3 upgraded this morning without uninstalling the old version. As soon as I try starting it I get a message that there is a problem and MC must close it.

Re: vmcNetFlix Beta 1.1.1 w/ Vista Extender Support (7/16/2008)
Having problems with the latest version. After playing for 4 or 5 minutes, playback stops and I get the spinning circle thing that never goes away. No problems when I use IE. Just another data point.

Re: vmcNetFlix Beta 1.1.3 w/ Vista Extender Support (8/9/2008)
Hi,
I've been trying to get this great app working on my xbox 360. Here are some symptoms of the problem: I can play movies just fine in WMC on my PC, but when I run "initialize movie player" in settings I eventually get the error message "program not responding."
I can start vmcNetFlix on my xbox 360, it asks if I want to clone my PC license and I say yes. When it asks if I want to setup, if I say yes it will just sit there with the spinning circle forever, if I say no it will send me to the queue viewing screen.
If I try to go to Settings > Movie Viewer and Initialize Movie View, it will sit there with the spinning circle again. If I press buttons, sometimes it'll allow me to browse the settings menu while the circle is still spinning. If I try pressing Intialize Movie Viewer again, it'll give me an Invalid Application Error. Sometimes I get the unknown player error message.
I noticed on the vmcNetFlix page it says "If
you are having issue with the extender getting setup, make sure you
don't have any antivirus software blocking vmcExtenderSetup.exe from
running." I don't see vmcExtenderSetup running during setup. I could not even find vmcExtenderSetup.exe on my hard drive via a search. Is this a problem?
Thanks for any help. I'm going to try to keep troubleshooting this problem.
// Edit: I noticed that whenever I start the Initialize Movie Player process, a dw20.exe starts up on my PC. Maybe it's crashing in .NET framework and I'm just not seeing the crash dialog?
// Edit: "Initialize Movie Player" is now crashing on my PC. Says extender service has crashed. dw20.exe appears when this happens, so same thing as xbox 360. I also can not find vmcExtenderSetup.exe on my system anywhere. I've uninstalled and reinstalled different versions of vmcNetFlix and it doesn't appear. Where is this file supposed to be? Does anyone know how to view the .NET framework crash logs?
// Edit: Ok, so I installed VS 2008, built the vmcNetFlix project, installed with the built installer and it still doesn't work, but I can now debug and get an exception, here it is: System.InvalidOperationException was unhandled Message="Could not Advise() the event interface 'DWebBrowserEvents2'." Source="System.Windows.Forms" StackTrace: at System.Windows.Forms.AxHost.ConnectionPointCookie..ctor(Object source, Object sink, Type eventInterface, Boolean throwException) at System.Windows.Forms.AxHost.ConnectionPointCookie..ctor(Object source, Object sink, Type eventInterface) at System.Windows.Forms.WebBrowser.CreateSink() at System.Windows.Forms.WebBrowserBase.StartEvents() at System.Windows.Forms.WebBrowserBase.TransitionFromLoadedToRunning() at System.Windows.Forms.WebBrowserBase.TransitionUpTo(AXState state) at System.Windows.Forms.WebBrowser.get_AxIWebBrowser2() at System.Windows.Forms.WebBrowser.PerformNavigate2(Object& URL, Object& flags, Object& targetFrameName, Object& postData, Object& headers) at System.Windows.Forms.WebBrowser.PerformNavigateHelper(String urlString, Boolean newWindow, String targetFrameName, Byte[] postData, String headers) at System.Windows.Forms.WebBrowser.Navigate(String urlString) at vmcNetFlix.ExtenderSetup.Setup() at System.Threading.ExecutionContext.runTryCode(Object userData) at System.Runtime.CompilerServices.RuntimeHelpers.ExecuteCodeWithGuaranteedCleanup(TryCode code, CleanupCode backoutCode, Object userData) at System.Threading.ExecutionContext.Run(ExecutionContext executionContext, ContextCallback callback, Object state) at System.Threading.ThreadHelper.ThreadStart() InnerException:

It looks like it's pooping out when trying to attach the DocumentCompleted event handler or when it navigates to the login page. Not sure why yet.
// Edit: Here's another exception, under the : Cross-thread operation not valid: Control '' accessed from a thread other than the thread it was created on. IE freaking out because vmcNetFlix trying to set focus on it?

Re: vmcNetFlix Beta 1.1.1 w/ Vista Extender Support (7/16/2008)
When I try to launch this on my Xbox 360, it gets to the point of asking if I want to setup the player on the extender, when I say Yes, I just getting the spinning circle hourglass and it won't do anything else. I let it sit for over an hour and nothing ever happened.
I've tried uninstall and reinstall of the software and the extender and various combinations thereof. On the PC itself I found out that I can only play downloaded movies, it won't stream anything. If I tell the 360 No to setting up the player, I get license errors on downloaded stuff and "No player available" messages for streaming.
I have Vista Ultimate x64, I've disabled UAC and made sure I can stream a movie from the site with no problems.
Any suggestions?

Are you running on x86 or x64 OS? I'm wondering if this is a x64 issue. And if it is x64, I assume you have the 32-bit IE7 set as the default browser, right?

Re: vmcNetFlix Beta 1.1.3 w/ Vista Extender Support (8/9/2008)
I just installed this plugin and it works great for me except for the trailers. I can play streaming movies fine, but it seems to stutter and stall when trying to load a preview.

Okay, I think I know what the problem is ... since moving the ExtenderSetup within the plugin, instead of running it via an external app, on 64bit platforms it's using the 64bit WebBrowser component - which does not work with the Netflix player.
I'll post an update soon which should address this by forcing the use of the 32bit WebBrowser component.

Re: vmcNetFlix Beta 1.1.3 w/ Vista Extender Support (8/9/2008)
Added Beta 1.1.4 to the download site - modified so that ExtenderSetup only uses 32bit WebBrowser component, even on 64bit platforms.
Hopefully, this will help initialize the movie player for those x64 platforms that stopped working after moving the ExtenderSetup into the plugin.

Great App! I am using it but the video seems a little cloudy. Have I configured something wrong? I use this pc to stream cinemanow and the quality is great to my xbox.

Re: vmcNetFlix Beta 1.1.4 w/ Vista Extender Support
Eric, Thanks for all of your great efforts! I am hopeful that I can get this great applicaiton to work on my extender. However; I have run into a little snag. Here is what I have done.
1) Removed my 1.1.3r3 x64 install, I had the same problems other reported with the circle of death spinning for ever. 2) I cleared my Registry. 3) Unpaired my 360 from VMC 4) I then rebooted everything. I find that this is a must as the NetFlixDownloadManager service does not like to stop clean.
After the reboot 1) I reinstalled your app. version 1.1.4 x64. 2) Verified that I could still play in VMC and it does. 3) I then re-paired my 360 to VMC. When I get to the last step of the extender install I get a pop up message that states INVALID APPLICATION Unable to launch vmcNetFlix DISABLE ?
I get this same message when I attempt to initialize the player from inside <settings> <Movie Player> <Initialize Movie Player>
If I ignore the message I can still play watch now movies from inside VMC but not from the XB360.
I am also running MyMovies as well as ORB on my XB360. This is a x64 install.
Thank you once again for your Help and Development !

Re: vmcNetFlix Beta 1.1.3 w/ Vista Extender Support (8/9/2008)
Hey Eric,
Thanks for figuring this out. I uninstalled current build and reinstalled your new build. I'm getting a FileNowFound error for vmcExtenderSetupLib.dll which gives me the Invalid Application error. Tried dumping the vmcExtenderSetupLib.dll in the vmcNetFlix folder and no go. Tried re-adding to global cache and same error. I'm gonng try restarting.
// Edit: Oh yeah, and I am running Vista Ultimate x64. My IE browser is x86.
// Edit: When I drop it in the eHome directory it changes from FNF to TargetInvocationException --> BadImageFormatException: Could not load file or assembly 'vmcExtenderSetupLib' or one of its dependencies.
I'm thinking the problem is that on Vista x64, Media Center is an x64 app and so it can't load the vmcExtenderSetupLib dll because it's a x86 dll. I'm assuming that before you consolidated the setup with the plug-in itself the setup.exe was running as an x86 app and didn't have the problem using the browser.

Can you try the 1.1.4r2 release ... I was marking the 32-bit component as a 64-bit component during the install. Make sure you remove ExtenderSetupLib.dll from the places you dropped it before installing this version.
Thanks,

Could you have a look at the Instant Queue not showing up in vmcNetFlix? I've just installed the newest x86 release, and I still can't access it. Everything else works fine.
