    Re: Details about Samsung's Extender

khimmy thanks, have you actually tried this with an MSMCE remote  i.e. test 1: can you try controlling the samsung 1) in standalone mode without the HDMI-CEC connected and 2) in connected mode via the Samsung TV. Are you saying that both options fail with the MSMCE remote ?

If that's the case it looks like I'll need to stick to the Linksys DMA2100 which can be controlled by other remotes.

    Specs:

    Case: Ahanix MCE302, CPU: Pentium M 2.13, OS: Trial Vista Ultimate 32bit, Mem: 4 Gig DDR2, M/br: Aopen I915Gmm-HFS, Storage: 1 x Samsung 200Gb, 1 x Samsung 300Gb, PVR: Hauppauge WinTV PVR150MCE, Source: Sky Satellite IRL

    Re: Details about Samsung's Extender

The first test will fail since the Samsung Extender doesn't have a separate IR port for remote input.
The second test will also fail since the MSMCE does not understand nor generates HDMI-CEC keys.

Yes, you should stick to the DMA2100 in this case... ;)

Re: It Works! - Maybe NOT!

I would love to purchase this device,  My XBOX 360 is so loud I can not longer take it, but I am concerned about two items.

    1.  I have a LN-T4061F that was manufactured on Aug 2007.  It appears from reading this thread that this device will work even if Samsung does not claim it.  It has anynet+ (HDMI-CEC).  That said will it work?  Anyone struggled with making this work

    2.  I am looking for some confirmation that this really only allows 2 channel sound.  That would be a deal killer as I listen to live TV about 99% of the time via my XBOX Extender.  I do not expect that to change and losing full sound is a no go.

Yes, your TV will work with the Samsung Extender. Just search Anynet+ through TV menu.
However, it's true that the device will only output 2 channel audio no matter what the source it.
A deal killer? Up to you... ;)

I've tried to get my Samsung extender to wake my HP Vista PC, with no success.  So every once in a while I have to go to my PC and tap the keyboard.  Not a big problem - it forces me to get up off the couch and get some exercise.

Thanks for that, are there any options in the samsung to enable wake up?

Could anyone confirm if subtitles or chapters work with VOB files?

    Re: WOL

If your Vista does not respond to WOL, then it really looks like a PC problem, not Extender related in any way.

Are you sure about that? The Linksys extenders can't wake up a Vista PC like the XBOX 360 MCX can from what I've heard.

Does / Can the Samsung extender wake a PC from S3 sleep when connecting an MCX session ?

    Re: Details about Samsung's Extender

On second thought, I really do not know whether Samsung Extender can wake up your PC.
All I know is that it's a function of Microsoft, not Samsung Extender. Probably that explains why none of the Extenders don't support WOL. Someone needs to test this with Samsung Extenders also But my guess is that it wouldn't succeed if every other Extenders failed.

    Re: Details about Samsung's Extender

Since setting up the extender I haven't managed to get the PC to go into an S3 sleep (I'm not even convinced it is going into away mode).

For those that have Vista Media Centers going to sleep with an extender attached, any hints for getting it to work. (I'm sure my TV Tonic downloads aren't keeping my PC *that* busy).

I forgot the exact name for the setting, but under control panel -> power settings, advanced, find the check box that allows the PC to go to sleep when sharing media.
