Don't forget everything, the longer the wait the more features/fixes that is likely to appear and/or the more stable it will be.  Sometimes waiting is good, don't most of us wish Vista would have shipped 6 months from now instead of 7 months ago?  I sure do.

You mean like how they stretched Vista out and dropped a bunch of features?

No, I mean if they had been smart and not set a ship date in stone we would still have many of those features.

If the possablity of QAM is in there, please try to make it happen before the fall season starts ! Would love to be able to record my shows in HD this fall !!!! Of course if I made the beta (still crossing my fingers here !!!).  NBC does a lot of shows in HD (1080i), and I've seen Law and Order in HD on my TV, it's really sweet. It would be great to see the though QAM(my only source for HD channels) !!!

oh, and of course the feature to "prefer HD over standard" that was requested !!!

Hope are you talking about Fall 2008 (at least).

Yes get it now.  It is worth the money spent now.  If you wait a year and still cant get QAM any other way you will have wasted the time watching SD when you could have been watching it in HD.

    HDHR here too.

Bonus: Execellent support especially on their forums. Great community of users. You can't get that support at other companies for FREE.

Re: Do you want to beta test the next version of Media Center?

Had one and sent it back.  First, it only works with unencrypted QAM.  So, there is no advantage over an OTA HD Antenna unless you are out of range of the antennas in which case you will need cable or satellite service anyhow.  Second, if you are usiung it with a cable service, it will only show the local channels and a few other unencrypted channels; i.e., unencrypted QAM. The local channels may be in HD but the cable box will show them already without the HDHR.  I have three OTA HD tuners in my VMC and a FIOS cable box in parallel, both connected through a HDMI switch.  The HDHR added nothing to this setup.  And, the software/setup process is painful...at best!  So, really research whay you think this will be of benefit to you.  Remember, it is just a dual tuner in an external enclosure.  Nothing more.

Couldn't take it any more, ordered a HDHR with free shipping and a bonus install kit...figured why not (cheapest I could find it).

When the beta comes available, if I am accepted, and it offers QAM support, I will disconect the HDHR for the testing.... Just hated to have to spend $170 on something that should of been included with Vista MCE....

there is a rumour that de Fiji upgrade is only x64. is somebody in the liberty to tell if it is supported on vista x86?

the runour has more ground since MS mentioned that Vista is the latest x86 OS

Re: Do you want to beta test the next version of Media Center?

Microsoft has never said that Vista is it's last x86 OS.  They said that Server 2008 will be there last x86 server, nothing about the desktop.

Re: Do you want to beta test the next version of Media Center?

At this point, I hope this beta does NOT happen and that they just release the new version of Media Center around the time when they release the Vista Service Pack. Maybe the beta announcement was just Microsoft's way to gauge Media Center's popularity.

    Okay, I'm rationalizing now.
