    Re: vmcNetFlix Beta proxy problem

    deeceem:

    Hi

I cannot play or download  movies on my pc. The message is 'proxy has not been installed' or similar.

I have stopped the virus manager, is there anything else i should do?

I can watch movies outside of vmc ok.

    thanks

You might want to check the application Event viewer to see there are any clues to why the background proxy service won't load.  You might want to verify that the firewall is not preventing port 8081 or another application is conflicting with it.

Re: vmcNetFlix Beta 1.1.1 w/ Vista Extender Support (7/16/2008)

I had been running 1.0.28R2 on 64 bit without issue, but all of a sudden i was only getting 24 items per genre.  I did a complete uninstall and reinstall of 1.1.1 and now i get odd movie counts for different genres

    new movies - 139
    new tv - 30
    action adventure - 27
    children familu - 27
    documentary - 78
    foreign - 38
    independant - 39
    scifi fantasy - 13
    television - 30
    anime animation - 5
    classics - 34

and so on for the rest of the genres.

Thats the newly added "Watch New" category - which is what I'd expect ... you should see more in the "Watch Now" category.

Re: vmcNetFlix Beta 1.1.1 w/ Vista Extender Support (7/16/2008)

I have been messing around with this for days now. I can not seem to get this to work. I have reinstalled and readded my extender no telling how many times. It works great on my PC just not on my xbox. When I try to play a download or a stream I get this error, "the file type is not recognized and cannot be played. Either the correct codec..." I did get it give me the licences error onece about it not being able to find the licences for it. I am using Vista Ultimate x64. Any help will be great.

    Thanks

Did you follow the instructions under the Installation section - particularly the one which mentions setting "automatically acquire licenses for protected content" in Windows Media Player?

Re: vmcNetFlix Beta 1.1.1 w/ Vista Extender Support (7/16/2008)

I think there may be a problem with VMC on a Vista 64-bit installation. I've noticed that the people postin in this thread with persistent problems that haven't been resolved (myself included) are running Vista 64-bit. I'm running Ultimate myself, I'm not sure if maybe that is also a common denominator.

Is anyone running a 64-bit Vista installation with VMC successfully? If anyone is, could you please tell us if you've had problems with VMC in the past, and what you did to rememdy them? Otherwise there may be a Vista 64-specific bug here.

i see, threw me for a loop there.  personally i would have the menu order as

Watch Now - Watch New - Browse New

Re: vmcNetFlix Beta 1.1.1 w/ Vista Extender Support (7/16/2008)

Hi all this is driving me insane so im really hoping for some help here. thus far these are the steps that I have taking so far. This is a copy of an email that I sent to the creator but im also coming here praying that someone here can help me.

Hello I really love this idea I'm just hoping that you can help me with my problem.
First I tried to find the log data that you asked to have sent but I couldn't find it anywhere so im sorry about that however Ill tell you step by step of what I have done thus far..

    1. Im using Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit and a Xbox 360
    2. The Xbox and the computer are set up to use Windows Media Center (I'm able to stream my vid files as well as my music from my computer to my Xbox)
    3. I have the 64 bit version of your software installed.
    4. I am able to play movies @ netflix.com as well as through the windows media center on my PC
    5. I am hardwired to my 360
    6. When I start up the VMCnetflix on the 360 I see all of the movies and tv programs and I can click on them to start the show.
    7. I am getting the message that it could not play that video file. then it would ask if I wanted to restart the movie when I said yes the windows circle (loading) would just spin and do nothing.
    8. I have tried everything I could possibly and Im coming to you as a list resort I really hope that you can help me with this. Thanks in advance.
By the way I have uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times as well as reconnecting my Media center pc with my 360. I really am at a loss for words so any guidance would be more then appreciated.

I am in the same situation as blbjtb.  This became a problem as soon as I upgraded to 1.1.1. I have done all the suggested things to fix the problem. (I also am running the same exact setup as blbjtb). Anyone else having this problem?

I had this exact same issue with this program. What i did to resolve it was add the program to my antivirus EXCLUSION list and told it not to monitor network activity. Hopes this helps you. Cheers to eLuttman!

Thanks for the suggestion. No firewalls or antivirus running on my vista box. I guess I will just have to wait till this matures a little more.

    Re: vmcNetFlix Beta proxy problem

    thanks,

the exact message is " download proxy service has not been installed"

sorry, but I have pretty basic skills. I have found the event viewer but what do i l ook for? I cant see any vmcnetflix events.

Also, i am using windows firewall. vmcnetflix does not appear in the list of programs to allow through 8081.

    thanks again
